I have the same device with the stock atty (until I can figure out the right grubs to buy for velocity 1 & 2 rda)
I use a 2.5 id coil @.19 ohms. Tight in the coil with a 45° cut on the tails. I do fan the tails a little bit.

Sent from my SM-N910W8
Thanks for the reply mate, the stock atty came with very overstuffed coil head. It is easy to see the benefits of Rayon too, original wick gave a dry hit but cotton was wet on deck. I love this Rayon:thumb:

Howdy folks!
@Kaezziel has mentioned several times that he uses rayon, and it made me curious. Today I took the plunge. Hid my Man-Card so no one could take it away, and walked into Sally's. All they had was a 3 lb box, but what the heck, it's not expensive. Walked out, the owner of 3 lbs of cellucotton 100% rayon. I figured if it didn't work out for me, I'd have a big box to share with folks that use it.
Kaz recommended I check out this thread, and I'm glad he did. After reading the OP, I wicked a 454 Big Block, and failed. Went through the Op again, gave it another try, and bazinga!
Next, I'll be rewicking my Theorem. Then maybe the Serpent... :)

Thanks @JeremyR, for going into such detail. Like most people, I've always thought rayon was like nylon, or polyester. You really set my my mind at ease. And your explanations and pics are great.

Got my ss316L 30g & 32g wire from Temco. Might be my imagination but I did a twisted with 32g 9 wraps on 2.5mm & the taste is so clean with rayon :thumb: better than with other ss316L wire with rayon.

Also it was noted that you might need to go up a few watts with rayon but for me I was able to go down a few watts.

Am I cray cray?

So my Rayonati brethren what do you think, Fodi V2 or Alleria? I want to give tanks one last go before I give up on them completely and I think I've narrowed it down to those two.
My pick would be the Alleria, FWIW.

Got my SS today. Temco is fast.

STM with kanthal 28ga, 6.5 wraps, 2.4 dia, 1.1 ohms. SS 28ga, 6.5 wraps, 2.4 dia, .6 ohms cold. I dry heated the coil and it went up to 1 ohm. When wet it only goes up to .7 This is on the Kbox mini with x.x display. On the Platinum with x.xx display it stays at .65 cold and hot.
What is real interesting is that I left the watts at 20 and get about the same vape. On a mech at 4.2v it would be 25w at .7 and 29w at .6 On a KBM it shows 3.8v at .7 and 20w setting.

ETA edit SS to 28ga. Dagnabit I thought I grabbed the 30.

Ah ha interesting...so when it's wet it does not go up as high...fascinating, that makes sense though :)

Glad you followed the breadcrumbs and made it over here, brother! Awesome that you were able to get the 454 wicking and working... shouldn't have too much trouble with the Serpent, and the Theorem may take a bit of trial and error to figure out. Wicking a Genny style tank is a bit different... Maybe TrollDragon has better suggestions, but my initial advice would be to stuff the coil and then run long, thin tails down into the well. Welcome to the wonderful world of Rayon! :D

For me it was the opposite, the Serpent is notorious for leaking right after filling if not wick 100% right. Still working on perfecting. It's o.k., then after 4-5 days, I find it has seeped onto the mod.
The Theorem is much easier. I wicked it tight in the coil like suggested then gave it a straight cut straight up, wick is covering the slots, thinning down to tips dangling down only about halfway down to deck. Isn't much since the tails are pretty thin.

The Big Block RDA, is working beautifully. I was getting a lot of spit back on the Theorem, but that finally settled down. The Serpent is trying to hurt me with spit back, and I'm not sure what to do about it.

I'm a little brain-dead right now... I know how to stop spit back, but can't focus well enough to remember if it needs to be tighter in the coil or what... I think your density may be slightly lacking, though. I'm sure someone around here will correct me if I'm wrong. :) These folks are usually pretty awesome like that!

Huh... I figured tthe Serpent would be pretty easy. Looks like a typical, single-coil RTA. I'd wick it the same way that I do the Silver Play with the tails tucked into the juice slots, then cut off after the chimney was screwed down. I've never really had much of a problem out of the Silver Play...

With the Theorem, do you have to do the old-school "Genny Tilt" to keep the wicks from running dry?

less spitback=tighter in the coil=needs more power .........as captain kirk would say

Thanks, brother! That's what I was thinking, also, but didn't want to commit to my initial thoughts and look like an idiot... My mind is a little scattered and focused on maintenance tasks here at work... the remaining sum of my cerebral processes are being tasked with trying to keep me from strangling the people around me... ;)

Welcome Tejas! Ill be sure not to mess with ya! .. Lol.. I'm from texas, born and raised in houston. :toast:

Too much juice on the coil, not enough power?

Serpent with center coil will exasperate any spitback. Make sure the air is wide open.

Loose wick at lower power will spit, at higher power will lean dry hit.

A overly tight wick may also spit in some cases. Sometimes the spitting or popping im this case will reduce as the wick settles in.
