The power of rayon:

Today, I entered a store to buy a few items. While I was at the shop, my dna 200 somehow went into continuous fire while in my pocket (probably the fire button got depressed) and although the temperature control didn't let the coil go over 230C (which was my set temperature at the time), it fired for so long the heat transfered from the coil to the deck and then to the chimney, eliquid and glass. When I finally noticed something hot in my pocket, the entire atty was at 200C and the eliquid was boiling inside the tank. I barely managed to unscrew the atty and had to let it cool off for almost half an hour before I could even touch it.

The coolest of all (pun intended) is that the rayon wick didn't burn and I was able to continue to vape before arriving home!

The eliquid, usually colorless was yellowish from the heat.

Rayon all the way.

Regards
Tony

That's happened to me, except on a mechanical... Wick was not injured.

Well you can't exactly blow up anything with a working TC device but what most people don't know, is that 450F is still damm hot on your fingers. [emoji14]

It was my own stupidity though. I usually lock the mod when I put it in my pocket but this time I forgot and somehow depressed the fire button.

I've been lurking in the background since I saw kaezziel and tejas talking about rayon on another thread. Really glad I did :)

I'm super happy with the results on my first few rayon wicked coils, getting ready to try it on a gamma v2.

Thanks for the awesome info on this thread!

It's been almost 2 months since I first started taking rayon seriously and I thought I would give you an update.

I only vape mints/menthols high PG eliquids and vaping has been a breeze with all except one of them. This particular eliquid has been the bane of my existence. A coil gunker to the max. Why is your favourite flavour is the most lethal on your coils :p Oh well....it was this particular eliquid that drove me to find a wicking method I liked and that would work properly for longer than a couple of days in my small factory blister pack coil heads. (BVC, Nautilus & Cubis)

With a lot of hand holding from @gt_1955 and @TrollDragon I started rewicking them with rayon. I was instantly gratified to find this eliquid wicks perfectly with rayon wicks and the coil setup lasts ages. I never thought I would ever say this but I have not loaded or used a factory coil in over a month. (So much for me stockpiling them in prep for the coming vapeagheddon)

The taste of my eliquids are cleaner and crisper and most of all I trust the coil to perform. That's a big thing for me..... If I don't trust it.... I won't use it. So in a nutshell...thank you @JeremyR for putting this thread together with easy to follow information and the support of every one while I figured out how to tootle puff with rayon.

Thanks karisma!

Glad its working as great for you as all of us!

I think one of the biggest benifits for me is that it just never fails. I carry one piece every day, thats it, nothing else. It never ever fails me..

Dry hit, oops... Couple puffs back in business, no failure no burnt wick. If you have a high gunker, just drip and wipe to keep the coil in check and stave off coil fouling..... That is if you can reach it to do so.. ;)

Yeah, dont think english is thier strong suit.. Must have called that piece or something.

But these cottons are ridiculously high priced like a couple grams for 10+ dollars... what the heck do they think the stuff is..

Must have read the first page of the first rayon thread. Lol.

Yeah didnt care for tencel(lyocell rayon) that much... Still got a grip of it. Lol
The fact that it looks like nylon doesn't help, at least the rayon we use looks almost like cotton.

I haven't tried it yet, just doesn't have enough body..too difficult to get right I bet.

Sitting down, facing forward.
I tried Tencel as a result of the original "rayon thread" over a year ago. It does work well in attys that use a straight wick path rather than one that requires a bend to get into wick channels. It is significantly stiffer than Graham, and other variants like Graham, so getting it place properly becomes problematic in small decks that need a bend in the wicks. It is also harder to get it into a "needle" to thread through the coil.

I'd say Vapersgold is kind of late to the party and not particularly experienced with rayon or its variants, lyocell being a more processed form to produce straighter, more uniform fibers. He should read the original rayon thread and this one.

Heya, Mark! Welcome to the party. You're already off to a good start with your rayon wicking, but if you run into any issues, the fine folks over here are great at helping others get their setups sorted out! :)
