OK, I do have a question, we all talk about watts, but what voltage do you usually vape at? It seems if I go over about 3.7-3.8 I start getting minor burnt flavor

Depends on the ohms and gauge of wire. I'm usually between 5 and 7v depends on how strong my draw is.. The more air across the coil the more power it can take before it overheats. You have to have a stronger or more open draw to push the power higher.

Anyone know where I can purchase a small amount of rayon for cheap? I was rebuilding today and ended up pulling the whole thing out. Turns out I only had about 6 inches left and its going to be a minute before I can go by Sally's and get another box. Probably gonna go ahead and get the big boy this time when I can since I bought the "small" last time and my "lifetime" supply went quicker than expected. Guess I gave away a little too much to potential converts. Lol

Any store, KU... the Rayon is good. The fiber is better than Sally's imo. (Kotex U, blk box)

Sitting down, facing forward.
Really Nice box... no v4 clones yet?. I got two v3 with the blue case last year...

And I'm vaping on the bachelor the last few days... Changed the orings on it and it fixed some issues.. Smaller coil opened up the draw, been vaping well... Really don't like the wide bore tips myself.. Way to open to collecting junk.

No V4 clones, yet. I tend to stick with what works for me an what I like. In the case of the V3 I like it, it works well for me and is almost impossible to destroy being all stainless. Perfect when working outside. Now, if I can figure out some kind of dust filter for the air intake....

2.5 ss 316 28g 8 wrap .25 ohm. 55 watt right now.on the Griffin 25. 80/20 juice.

How does it vape? Don't chase the power chase the vape. :)

Edit- read posts..

55 to duals with 28 even would be no problem whatsoever.. I am running 40w all the time to a single 8 wrap 28g 2.5 mm coil. That's equivalent to 80w with duals of the same.

To be honest you can only vape as much as your lungs can handle. The strength of the draw will directly, and completely affect the amount of power a coil can take properly.

Do some fast hard lung pulls you'll see the burnt taste goes away.. The question is can you pull that hard all day?. Just power according to you draw.

Is this a single coil build Or dual?

55 to a single is like 110w with a dual coil. Need big air flow with deep lung hits to go more than that.
It was dual. It would frequently taste burnt. Gonna try a 3mm 24g same wraps for my trip tonight. See if maybe a little bigger will keep up with my juice usage

All your doing is compensating by using a heavier wire that takes more power to reach vape temp. And will retain heat longer.. Doesn't matter the voltage, matters the vape. And if longevity is a concern this would come into play as the retained heat will tend to cook the juice while it sits.

I would bet it's not juice that's lacking but air.

So basically, less mouth to lung hits. My lungs can take it.

And if I'm tired my draw weakens and I can no longer vape at 40- 45 to a single coil like I can during the day.. it will start to taste burnt because of reduced air flow. I have to lower according to how hard I'm vaping.. I may go to 38, 35 for weakened hits. Some days I just don't feel like bug lung hits so I turn it down.

Yeah big lung hits is how people vape at higher wattage... Mouth to lung will cause a burnt taste on my coils at 40w, I full lung hit for sure.. But if it happens I still I can vape a few hits and it clears right up.

These are my opinions and how I do it..

So it seemed to have resolved it unless I take like 3 hard vapes in a row. But might be rayon a bit too tight, I used the twist to get more in the coils

You may be at a stage of going back and forth thing to find that sweet spot.. Very well could be too tight.. Check the tightness in the coil. If the shoulders are high still and pretty stiff like bricks then it's too much.. Look at the coloring of the wicks and juice on them..

26 with twist method.. Yeah that's probably a lot.. 26g really shouldn't have very much movement at all when Installing, unless the legs are real long. Listen and feel for the squeak and just pull one coil width more through at the most, or just slightly past the squeak point.

You should be able to taste the Rayon more pronounced when over tight.. It should go away within a short time.

Twist method is better for weak tc wire or 32g.

Do you guys hand twist or use a drill? When making 2 twisted wire for coils? I hand twisted 32g ss316L & it was fine, I used a drill & the wire was so springy could not make a good coil.
I then heated the twisted wires & torched the made coil. Then it worked fine. Which method do you use? Thanks!

Haven't twisted wire in quite a while. When I did, it was via drill. Had the same springy results. Moved to a lower gauge (thicker) wire and/or Claptons. For spinning up claptons, still use a drill.

Depends on what I'm using and how tight I want the twist to be. right now I have 26ga kanthal hand twisted at I want to say 1mm twist pitch (space between ridges). For tighter twists with the larger gauges it's gotta be the drill for me.

Hey guys, new convert here. Had worked at rebuilding off and on over the years but never was very successful so eventually just gave up figuring I'd wasted enough time and money on it.

Fast forward to last week I thought I'd give it another go because of all the advances, new techniques and after reading so much of the joy of posters in this thread. CRAP!! Sure am glad I did!

Grabbed a Avacado 24, some 24g SS and some cotton bacon, only took 2 tries at wicking and found the results really were quite good.

Then I remembered a buddy had given me a pinch of rayon a year or more ago and so I thought I'd give it a go.

After reading Jeremy's first post mainly and many others I knew what to do. Again, it took me a couple of tries, didn't get enough rayon in the coil the first time, man you really gotta cram it in there pretty good eh.

Back when I first went sub ohm all my juice needed to be thinned 100% with plain base due to there being too much nic and flavouring for subohming. NOW! I've had to cut all the juice I put in the Avocado Again!

It is so efficient at wicking juice I have to start carrying a 30ml. bottle with me instead of my usual 10ml. bott when I'm out for the day. And this is with only a single coil in there.
I can literally watch the liquid drop in the tank after 2 or 3 good toots. Glad I diy. haha.

Thanks Jeremy! And thanks for you posters in this thread, it took a while but am so glad I finally got to this point in my journey. Cheers. YeeeeeHaaaaa.
