Welcome! Hope you stay & join in the fun here!:headbang: We've got great peeps here!
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I sure did not know what I was missing. Beginning to think Rayon may ruin me for my other tanks and premade coils. I plan to do a SS clapton build before long, I hate the thought of ripping out a good coil so will probably be a while. tanks again. Cheers!

OK.... 2 attempts wicking 2.5mm, 30g SS, epic fails. Can't get enough rayon in them, they're too flimsy. :-x

But 30g twisted went much, much better. First attempt, in the Serpent, 7 wraps, .73 ohms, and SCORE! So far, so good... working great at 21 watts. :)

For really light gauge coils, try Tony's double insertion method to get enough Rayon in the coil.

You basically take the the amount of Rayon that would fit in a heavier gauge coil, split it in half and feed both halves into opposite sides of the coil. Pull both pieces through the coil until you reach the density you want.

Easier to keep the coils shape this way.

...And here we go with the double insertion again :D Let the jokes commence :D

I had forgotten all about the double insertion method. I guess I've gotten too old for all that kinky stuff.

@Hiramkunz hey brother I finally got a billow v3 and my first build went great until it emptied all over me and my mod:mad: I realized I had trimmed the tails to thin that go in the holes. So I just stuffed small pieces of rayon down in the wick holes and that did the trick! So far so good. I have the juice control just cracked open with my max vg diy and it's burnin through the jooose:)

I attempted to convert another from Japanese cotton. To allow him the added benefits and money saving of rayon. I Sent him a whole Baggie full of sallies finest along with a link to this thread (thanks again @JeremyR). Him and his girl both tried it and didn't like. Said it spit to much and didn't like the bad taste and it gave a sore throat. They both drip. I drip and use tanks. I'm sure they just had density wrong. Prolly my bad, I told him to pack it tight just before the coils moved and listen, feel for the squeak. I feel bad if I led him wrong and now he is against rayon!! That's two out of several friends that didn't like, I think due to improper wicking. He lives a couple states away or I'd show him in person. Just tryin to hook my bro up!!

Bummer dude.. Some people just aren't with it, or understand.. I mean they're happy with cotton.. Or aren't looking for a big change.. Or for a big nic hit.. Or their not to the point they see what it can do for them.

It's like going from a cigalike to a dripper at 30w.... It's no joke - your gonna feel it... The reason I blew Rayon up was because nothing else hit like it.. May be too much for some.

Like I said originally.. It's like drinking your juice. ... Along with that comes a lot more vaporized liquid droplets of nicotine and other juice components on the membranes of the throat.. More than your used to.. and it can take a few days for you to adjust to the change.

I likened that initial soreness to the day after a cloud competition. Your gonna feel it.

It comes down to how often do they Rewick and would they like to rewick a fraction of the time.. If that's important to them they may try again later..

Usually when someone is at this point it's best to wait a few weeks or more and then try it again.. Major epiphanies can happen after that..

I was there before.. When I came back to it after the first go round is when I started Rayon wick ground zero, and really saw what it was doing.

Lol, I know.. After 26 I knew you wouldn't want to hear it... Lol.

It's possible though I started Rayon with 32g for quite some time almost half the thread. The trick is the close stretch to make the fibers come together tight, or shrink in size, from the tension.

Pull at about 1½- 2" apart it will not break but tighten down on itself... So you finagle it by stretching with a close grip, pulling some, stretching, pulling and that should be good.... Or hold the coil with two fingers.

The nice thing with light wire is you can pretty easily reform the coil with the tool of your choice, and they stay put.. Mini flat blade screw driver for me.

I was paralleling 32 for a while there to get the ohms down.. This was almost two years ago now.. Really prefer parallel over twisted, but it can be a pain to do depending on the leg termination.

This was // 32g running around 30-35w.

Talk about instant ramp up. I used to do this as well.

Oh yeah, the v3 is a beast, will be rebuilding it once I get home. Right now the boreas is rocking it for me

Yes, I'm a instant vaper.. 2-3 seconds is the longest I want to draw for a big cloud.. I believe I was hitting that build at 35+ watts on 32g. Clouds in no time flat.. Instant on instant off.

Since I'm out 28k now.. I'll have to try another //32, this 28 is feeling slow now.. Lol, hate that delay... Guess I've become accustomed to it more, after using some 26 the 28 doesn't seem bad.. . maybe it will be easier to mount it in the bachelor without post and screws. Get it up to like 20 wraps total maybe, need 8v really to power it well. I think last time I tried it the ohms were so high I maxed the evic out at 7.4v due to ohms.

I've switched to rayon, but I've been having leaking issues. I posted elsewhere about my Cleito RDA cartridge, for example. I switched to working on my SMOK TFV4 RDA deck instead, which I'd rebuilt many times w/cotton, and again with the leakage. Finally I figured out 2 things:
1. You REALLY need a lot of rayon vs cotton. Because it's so slippery and doesn't swell, the potential for leakage is much greater because it's so much less forgiving.
2. You have to stuff it pretty tight into the juice channels. Same as #1.

YMMV, but this is my experience. I tend to have a light hand, so my stuffing it full and cranking it down in there is probably equivalent to everyone's "medium" intensity. TOTALLY WORTH IT FOR TASTE AND PERFORMANCE! RAYON FTW!

It just depends on the atty. With a Griffin style deck I use the angle cut and trim. With like aromamizer, I will do the needle.

Agree! With The Cleito it really has to be tight IMHO. Their prebuilt cartridges are SUPER tight, so much so I have to poke holes in the channels. So I stands to reason they have to be super tight when using the RDA cart.

I really want to learn to build vertical coils. I haven't tried that yet. Anyone recommend a favorite tutorial?

I got these the other day and think the packing is the neatest I've seen from anyone. Hotcig FEV V3s -

Wow! That IS cool! I generally wish everyone would just stop packaging everything beyond the bare minimum (which is why I buy Amazon Basics stuff whenever I can), but that's almost worth it for aesthetics alone.
