Going back to the early parts of this thread, viscose, in the US anyway apparently, refers to a form of rayon that has been processed a little further to align the fibers and make them more continuous and linear. Basically one more step along the path to making rayon thread for fabrics.
I tried "real" viscose early on and it is more like angel hair in consistency. That, oddly enough, makes it much harder to work with. Getting a point on it to thread it through a coil is rather difficult and it's much less forgiving in terms of density in the coil. I still have almost all of the four ounces I ordered way back when. I will admit that back then I was making tiny
coils for cig-a-likes, wound on a 16 gauge needle, and that may have been a factor. Maybe I'll break it out and try it through a real coil, 3mm, made with 26 gauge instead of 32 gauge.
