Yes, and yes.

Thanks! I’m close to buying either the Zeus X or the Single Coil Original Zeus RTA.

I’m trying to figure out if there is any advantage or difference to the build deck of the Zeus X vs the original? If I have the desire to run SC builds.

From what I gather GeekVape makes 3 variants of the Zeus. Are these parts interchangeable?

As far as the rayon are you keeping the tails real thin and pointy? Then placing into the little wicking ports?

In terms of the juice flow channels, into which you must tuck the wicking, the Zeus Original is single coil, the Zeus Dual is 1.5 coil (as awkward as it sounds), and the Zeus X is dual coil. I haven't used the original. The X has a more open build deck than the Dual, with a space to trim the legs. I've heard that the glass is interchangeable between the Dual and X but I never tried interchanging any parts.

My wicking procedure is to pull through the rayon until it squeaks, then tuck the bottom half into the channels and trim off the rest.

Thanks, GOMuniEsq! Just bought the Zeus X and will refer to these pictures when I try my first build. Currently in need of some new coils or a spool of wire. Are those “tiger” coils? You wrap yourself or buy a box of prewrapped coils?

I was thinking in a single coil config what is the thickest gauge round wire I could fit? Surely 20G wire? If I do SC was thinking 4mm id coil and 20G wire but would try as thick as 18G.

Those coils look like geekvape twisted staple wire to me. I could be wrong, but I use that wire.

I've got pre-built Geekvape F202 Framed Staple Fused Clapton 4-wrap 3mm 0.25Ω coils in here now. I wouldn't recommend them as the ribbon-style doesn't physical fit very well in the Zeus when spaced (and scorches when not spaced), and I keep getting slight contact between the wraps that confuses my mod by throwing off the idle resistance.

I think I'm going to try the Geekvape F207 Fused Clapton 3mm 0.25Ω "flavor wire" coils next.

Yeah if you use a single coil definitely go with the 4mm inner diameter as otherwise I don't think you'd have enough wick to fill the channels.

Hey I've got a problem for like over a year but can't fix it. I really like rayon because of the flavor and because it lasts longer than cotton.

But when I look at the coils when I'm going to rewick, it never looks healthy. And I start rewicking because the taste is bad, usually after about 50-100 ml of 90% VG juice.

The chimney is always filled with black gunk, small parts of approximately 1-3 mm in size. Probably some of that black gunk will make it through the chimney and end up in my lungs.

Just before I took the pictures I cleaned the chimney and removed some sticky black stuff of my coil but it is probably understandable how dirty my coils are. If not, I can upload pictures of my new diry coil in about 2 days of vaping.

So I would like to be able to understand why this is happening and maybe I'll be able to fix it.

Ammit V2 dual coil RTA.
I've got kanthal coils.
10 wraps
3,5 mm inner diameter.
04 mm thick (26 ga)
Rayon in it. During last year I experimeted with different tightness, it doesn't make much of a difference. I usually wick it tight to make sure each coil is touching the rayon.
I'm vaping @ 25-30 W.

Hope anyone can help. Or is this normal with high VG juice? And don't you think it might be unhealthy, because it looks burned. And that's exactly what I'm trying to prevent with vaping.

My new wick.
I know they say you shouldn't put too much wicking material in the juice; make small tails. At least, that's for RDA's. But it's not really possible in this RTA because I need a lot of wick in the channels to stop leaking.

I'm vaping @ 25-30 W.
That is your problem right there, you are just cooking the juice instead of vaporizing it, the power is way too low for a 10 wrap dual coil like that.

Your 25-30W only produces a heat flux of 70-90 which is a very cold vape.
Personally I would run such a build in the 80W+/- range.

Hahahahaha never expected that. Let's vape away than . I allways thought the wick was burning or something like that, so I bought bigger tanks.
Just set my wattage to 65W. Allready got the weak battery message on my VTC mini with a 70% full battery haha.
I'll try vaping at around 60W, and afterward will probably try a single coil setup.

edit: good taste! But I've got a nicotine rush right now hahaha.

You can try 28ga wire to lower the power requirement as well.

Builds such as the one you posted that require over 50W to perform, will require a dual cell mod for any kind of performance or battery runtime.

You getting 50 to 100 mls between rewicks? Also sweet and very high vg? I rewick after about 15mls net tobacco, so I cant say for sure, but I would imagine most coils will look like that after 100mls

Mine don't. Not even close to that. But much depends on the juice and what (if anything) it's flavored and sweetened with.

I recon a 90vg sweet juice is going to leave that stuff behind if you run that many mls. Like you said, if perhaps your running a 50 or 60 vg with low flavorings it's going to be alot cleaner...imo , with his set up, juice, etc, the reason it's like that , is waiting to long to rewick....

I put 300mls of a commercial juice (Pear Bear - Candied Pear and Papaya) through my Titan and the coils never looked that bad. I still say the low power on those coils contributed to the blackening.
I'm just guessing he has a dark sweet juice and that's why it looks like that..take something like baba's bounty and in 50 to 100 mls is pretty darn gunky in there...I also agree on the low power like you said...theres not to many reasons for that, and a dark sweet juice is one, so it's a fairy a good reason...

Yes I'm vaping Capella vanilla ice cream and that kind of flavours. Mostly creamy flavors, sometimes with hints of mokka, chocalate and cookies. So yes, they are sweet.
But nontheless, my chimney full of black gunk doesn't look that appetizing, I'd rather prevent it :danger:.

I'll let you know if the high voltage was helping. At least I don't need to hold the power for 1-2 seconds now to just heat up the coils. 54W now.

Hopefully it will help........I know rewicking a dual takes a bit of time and it's nice to not have to do it often, but if the other thing doesn't work out, it just might be a juice that needs rewicking every 20mls or so
