Wow, that's crazy. The price difference between the two is very minimal on several sites and you end up with twice as much.

I was thinking of trying something different like DM balls since I'm close to empty on my first 500 footer but I think I'll just go ahead and hop down to sally and spend the extra couple dollars on the 3lber and try the other kinds out later. Seems stupid not to with such a small price difference over the 500 I got last time. When I bought it I thought I'd never buy wick again but that was less than a year ago and I've got maybe a couple wicks left.

Tidi large medical balls would be the American choice..

Already cashed out a 500Ft box... geez you must have been very generous with that.!. :)
I gave a lot away to a lot of people. Pretty much anyone who showed interest in trying rayon got sent a little package and most are now full converts. A few people here and there over the course of a year and the next thing you know you grab the box to rewick and what was once a 500' rope is now about as long as a rats tail. I don't mind it really. $20 a year for wick isn't bad and I got a lot of people into rayon. Still certainly much cheaper than any of my other consumable vape supplies over a year's time.

That's been the great thing about rayon it's so cheap people just give it away. I couldn't be happier.. Thanks for spreading the love.

My intent has been to make sure it's available, so everyone can try it for themselves.. Can't get any easier than getting it to try free. :)

Even the "expensive" rayons are a fraction of the cost of premium cottons.

Set up the Theorem and the Avocado with 30ga kanthal at 2.2 ohms. Avocado is a very nice made piece. Everything about it is nice and easy except filling it with the single coil blocker in place. Not easy to remove. The Theorem is good enough. Adjusting the air flow is a pain. Having to remove the glass to rewick might turn out to be as well. tank has to be empty. Easier to fill as the blocker is attached to the top cap. Have to use a long tip or needle. We will see what the boss thinks.

Which Avocado? The 24? (I just ordered one on a flash sale).

Running my first single coil on the Aromamizer v2. Rayon wick is awesome as expected. Great flavor, a true juice hog :)

I'm having a lot of fun with twisted kanthal 27awg. Since I'm not into TC, am running a mech now, stable resistance is good. It was a pain to find, but I likey :)

Hi all,

I've been reading up on using Rayon for wicking and although I've read a lot of pages on this thread, I can't seem to find my answer - regarding the Tidi balls, is it ok/safe to buy the ones that say "non-sterile"?

Thank you!
@JeremyR could answer you with 100% accuracy. But I do remember him saying yes you can. Because as soon as the air touches or our hands touches it becomes non-sterile. For our purposes of Vaping it's fine. Where did you find Tidi Balls?

Graham CelluCotton, Sally's, comes in a cardboard box or plastic bag, certainly not sterile. I've been using it for over a year, now, and only have one extra eye in the middle of my forehead. YMMV :w00t:

In all fairness, and I wasn't trying to be insulting, one of the things that gets overlooked about wicking materials, cleanliness and sterility is that the wick is constantly subjected to temperatures in excess of, at least, 350F. At that level I am fairly sure anything biological cannot survive. It's more the chemical reactions that occur that can be troublesome and those, usually, happen with components of the liquids in use.

Hi Laura - Welcome!!

None of my recomendations are sterile. It doesn't need to be irradiated for any reason, and it's not a safety concern.

Rayon is inherently biological contaminate free. Its cellulose extracted from plants by scientific method. No mites crawling around in here... With all that aside...

What part of Rayon do you find most alluring?

Let us know anything we can help you with. :vapor:

I had an experience today that reminded me of one of the reasons I like Rayon. I got two new Provari 2.5's Saturday, I took my Erlk off a mech. and put it on the new Provari, set it at 4.7v and started vaping. After a few hits, whoa, burnt taste. I checked the build, 1.5Ω, duh! I reset the Provari to 3.7v, and went on my merry way, burnt taste gone. If that had been cotton, I would have had to re wick it.

Welcome to the obsession! Everything I've ever used is non-sterile. If I have any doubts, I just rinse, dry, wick and go. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions, we're a pretty good group of @$$holes here :D

I found them on Amazon.com - a bit pricey, though I'm not sure what the norm is.

I like the idea of not switching out wick as often, and it seems like it might be a "cleaner" vape than cotton. I guess you're first post sold me!! Thanks for everyone's help!
