I just put in a 4mm parallel SS316 26G into the Merlin and vaping very nicely at 50W/420F on the VT133.

How did you do the wicks? Did you trim with the mullet? Or just thinned the tails & tucked?
That coil takes the whole strand of Sally's.

Pulled it through with a thumbnail on one side to not deform the coil. Trimmed it in line with the edge of the base and fluffed both sides. With both sides fluffed (looks like a bow tie) I cut straight out from the top of the coil, trimming off the upper part. Take the remaining wick and gently put it into the juice cup with the excess on the deck. (Don't jam all that wick into the cup ;))

Take a little screw driver and push the wick up a little bit through the juice hole so it is clear. I quickly pulse the fire button after dripping juice on the coil to load up the wick faster.

TL;DR
Trimmed and tucked. :D

Hey guys.. Holy cow.. I'm sitting here watching TV... checking the nets.. Oh I'll check my tracking for the ft order.. Not thinking I'll see any movement..

Delivered! I'm like what.. Got it.. Wasn't expecting that.. Only 10 days and 4 of those were weekend days so basically like one week. Wow, I haven't ordered before because of all the horror stories of long shipping..

Well I'm stoked, bout to go open it up. :)

Well that depends on the color of the juice your using. :) I take it it's not black..

I'm a few pages behind today. I'll have a closer look... Probably already been taken care of by the Rayonati brethren.

The KU is different it's not bright white when wet, it's more translucent and looks different when wet.

Jeremy, based on your comments I bought a few Bachelors. Once I figured out the wicking, it's been great! Easily the output of an Aromamizer and the flavor is up there as well. Really amazing for a single coil tank!

That's why I don't mess with duals.. Not only that I'm lazy. :)

Hey that's why I use Rayon too. Less work no trouble makes a happy vapor.

Is it gross that i have the same cotton in my tank for over 8 days now? Just plain old CVS or walgreens organic cotton balls. But I feel like it's would be pointless to re-wick at this point, since i got an RDA coming along with the Rayon, and I want to take a break from RTA's. The tank in question still tastes fine, should i just go by that? Just the fact thats it's gone so long without taking the tank apart and cleaning. I worry about some fungi growing in the chamber. I know PG prevents mold from forming. Maybe i should take some juice and put it on a q-tip and rub some inside the chimney of the tank. Hello OCD!

On topic, can you go really long without having to re-wick rayon? Like it doesn't gunk up and start tasting as bad as cotton does so soon? Or does that all depend on the sugar in the e-juice you use and how much you vape/wattage.

Hey Chazz you should been around in the first part 1. You would have seen a lot of them at 100, 200, and even 300ml not looking any different than cotton at maybe 3 days depending.. In general you can expect at least 4 times longer life considering some juices.. But yes your correct the juice makes a big difference, sugars will caramelize faster but you try to set everything up, including how you vape, to keep the temperature of the coil from hitting the carmelization point of the juice . That doesn't necessarily mean low wattage though. I always vape at pretty high temps but depends on the juice.

One of our members @tchavei once asked the same question.. He was quite concerned with those probabilities and the thought of unsanitation... Funny thing.. He was also one of the first to go about 300ml of juice with one wick and not touching it.

That was you that was concerned with that way back wasn't it tchavie?

Pushing on the wick at the edge of the coil shouldn't reveal a gap that stays. It should spring back or its not quite enough...

Or I would say your cooking the juice because the coil is way more than you need and it's just cooking and not vaporizing enough because your not pulling hard enough to wake that coil up. It's just too big to be efficient.

The whole wicks turning black because it looks like too much tail but it's hard to tell. You'll want it between 25 and 50%(max) of the full tail density, trimmed back so right after the bend it's fully thinned to the target.

Hope this helps.

I'm not an expert, but it looks like too little wick in the coils. What is making them dark is "back feeding", feeding from the wick down onto the well. As far as them looking "nasty" as long as the flavor is good and vapor output is good it's not really a big deal other than the esthetics of it.

Agreed, if its Vapes and taste good don't worry till it doesn't. If that's not an acceptable amount if time then rehash it. The juice may just turn that color.

I'm not an expert, but

LOL, you know a thing or two. :)

That KF5 is suffering from unvaporized contaminants. If the wick it touching any side in the chamber it will pull those darker juice remnants back into the wick. I would suggest to trim about 50-75% of the shoulders down and drop the rest (tails) in the juice ports. Kinda like a mullet. Short on top and long in the bottom.

I have the same exact thing with my Heracles RTA 2 and one side of the wick is touching the chamber causing only one side of it to darken.

Not much you can really do with that much coil/wick in the chamber.

Sure enough @atroph nailed it 100%!

That was my first thought as well.

I would pull the coil and replace it with something more conservative for your vaping. That coils efficiency range is 30-60w+ imo... But you can always try to make it work for you or you work for it I guess..

FT has been great of late, as long as you order stuff that is in stock.

I ordered some stuff from Fasttech that I knew was a week to 10 days out for shipping. Well, it shipped 3 days after I placed the order! Should be at my PO any day cuz it hit the states yesterday. From shipment date orders have been taking about 10 days to delivery. Much faster now that they come through Miami instead of NY as in the past (I live in FL).
