Now when I began a career as a roadway inspector in the early 80's a man said to me: "Son, folks are gonna call you all kinds of names, they'll talk about your momma and even threaten to kill you. Don't sweat it until they call you a truck driver, 'cause them's fightin' words". lol.

I replied "but tractor trailer drivers have to back into alleys, turn corners a school bus can't make and drive in the snow." He said "shoulda been more specific, dump truck drivers". "Their brain is oxygen starved from sitting on it all day".

Years have shown me that there are some pretty dumb dump truck drivers. But they've also shown there's some pretty dumb road building engineers too.

Ouch. First and foremost, never meant you any harm, dear lady. Always thought of you as a fun-loving gal, and I have always looked forward to pictures of your mods and 'Bling' every year.
I didn't say you started the term. I always thought some young inexperienced cloud chaser started that crap.
But I have also found the term "tootle puffer" as a put-down. and a rather derogatory term, at that.
Maybe I should just let this thread die out... seems I've already offended enough people (this time)

Nope, let it organically evolve, please Papaw. No harm, no foul, and we'll all make it thru here. (hopefully with some smiles and laughs)

Thank you.... thank you. And we'll kontinue to discuss in our PM, ok? :)

Being a conservative, middle aged white guy- I am automatically considered to be so many bad things these days ( whether I am or not makes no difference), that being considered a tootle puffer is soooooo far down the list, it doesn't even register on the radar. I'm old, my hide is thick, and I've been called worse by better.

I always thought the tootle part came from Tootle the Train- a Little Golden Book I read my kids at bed time.

People these days think everybody needs to be labeled and pigeonholed accordingly, by whatever the current cause d'jour is. No thanks.

I don't see as you did any harm, Kat. Who'da thunk that phrase would have stuck???

Brillaint, Bolivar, and tho my hide is more "soft" than thick.....

Thank you. I have no klue who would have thought that silly term would stick! But stick, it did. ;)

BIG time.

1) Going to bed early.
2) Not leaving the house.
3) Not going to a party.

My childhood punishments have become my adult goals !

Keeping with vape related topic- I bought myself an Innokin EQ pod for Christmas. So far, not all that impressed, but I'll keep at it and see if it grows on me.

As pods go, I really like mine a lot, Bolivar. Delivers a really nice hit. But in the middle of the 4th fill, it's beginning to taste pretty bad. That's less than 8 ml per pod, I'm thinking I'm not willing to pay that much for the convenience....at least not as one of my main devices. Maybe if I use it only for unflavored. It is really handy to stick in your pocket, and the vape on this one is very close to an RTA.

Mamaw wanted to see Jenifer Gardner's "Peppermint", so I rented it from RedBox tonight.
That little redhead seriously tore it up !

I happy even just watching her sell credit cards.

I think part of the problem is I am just starting to recover from a round of kindergarten crud my 5 year old grandson was gracious enough to share with me. Smell and taste are still not fully accounted for, so I'm sure that is a big part of my current perception of the device. None of my regular equipment has much flavor at the moment, either. On the bright side, I can still taste bourbon !

I’m not even considered a tootle puffer anymore (65+ w) but I absolutely love the term.
Most of my favorite art is from the renaissance era, vaping not so much!

LOL … yeah at 65 Watts you are indeed not a tootle puffer ;) … Well, like I tell KatDarling and DPLongo22, what matters is that we don't use tobacco in any form no matter what your style of vaping is … I would rather see some person chucking LARGE clouds NONSTOP than to see them smoking tobacco..... I currently do not know if vaping is harmful (in the long term) but I sure as h*l know that smoking is harmful in the long term.

The thread continues. Before you know it we will all be RVs. Man I wish I owned one. An RV.
I did have a small pull along one (but it was cool!) Also sold decades ago during the bankruptcy. Sigh.

    Oh,no. I don't want $15000 sitting behind the garage.
I'd rathe have $7000 of dinosaur gear from companies that no longer exist :thumb:

I don't even know if he's still around, but I'll remind you that it was intended to be an insulting term from Jump.

That it took off and ran like it did caught everybody off guard. Risking redundancy (yet again), some things just "are".

For me the most interesting thing is that people actually care. Never lose sight of that the fact that we remain free to call ourselves (individually) whatever the heck we want.

There was a guy in downtown Stamford, years back, who used to stand on a high traffic corner in a Superman getup. Every morning, on my way to the train, I'd walk past him.

Never once did I fail to offer up the greeting (never losing stride), "Whaddup, Supe?"

    BE the Superman. Who cares.

My husband is from the Appalachian mountains, (it's also where we live currently) and he has that deep accent.

He also has an IQ of 174.

When we lived in Kansas City people treated him as if he was stupid as a matter of course; they heard the accent and automatically decided he didn't have any brains.

He never cared, he loved playing the dumb blonde bit.. lol. He gets a kick out of people underestimating him and then handing them their hat when they least expect it.

So anyway, one of my co-workers was German, and haughty. One day my husband walked in to pick me up from work and for whatever reason this co-worker decided to have a conversation with my husband about how Celsius is a more accurate method of measuring temperature than Fahrenheit. (Oh we dumb Americans.. lol.. you know the type). So when this co-worker was done with his soliloquy about the evils of Fahrenheit, my husband began telling him if he really wanted accuracy then absolute Kelvin was the only way to go and began a lecture on why it's more accurate, explaining in great detail, then explained why in lieu of Absolute Kelvin, my DH felt that Fahrenheit was the better measure compared to Celsius.

My co-worker walked away from that dumbfounded, with no answer at all and never underestimated my husband again. Totally respectful after that.. lol..

All this to say sometimes, owning the stereotype is just fun.. lol..
