Good lord man. Why does your dog hate him so much? Kind of scary to know your dog can fly off the handle like that. Hopefully he isn't like that with strangers?
Anywho, hope everyone had a good Christmas. I slept right through mine >.>

My Stepson still smokes (not tobacco) and is afraid of big dogs. I guess the 'aroma' he carries with him as he 'floats' through the door is something the dog detests. And of course, dogs can sense when you're afraid.
He wasn't my dog to start with. My younger son, John, a Chicago Bears fan, had him and named him "Urlacher". He came home, with my younger son as John was between Ex #2 and Ex #3. This mutt, about waist high, walked up to me and start growling at me. Not in my house ....
After I backed him off, I told him "You want to growl at my nuts, yours are coming off !"
And a week later they did.
That was six years ago. Urlacher is my shadow now. I walk through the house or go outside, he is right beside me. I sit at the table, he sits beside me. I watch TV, he lays down next to me on the couch.
But this mutt has attacked nine people and killed four other animals that I know of, always on our property. The police have been here twice, and simply agreed that he was "doing his job".
I have been told by the Vet that Sheppard breeds can be "Territorial" (duh-h).
But this old Trucker knows - when I am out on an overnight run, and Mamaw is home alone, that dog isn't letting anyone near this house.
Good Dog

Yuck, whoever came up with that phrase needs a time out so they can think long and hard about what they did.

May I refer you to Post #92 of this thread ...

For those who either don't remember (or are just unfamiliar), the term was initially an off-cuff mention, and was used somewhat disparagingly.
From there, one member (I can't recall her name) kind of latched onto it, and decided to use it, somewhat as a lark (and definitely on a whim). She wondered if vape had passed her by, and simply wanted to find out if there was anyone still around who still vaped like she did.
From what I recall, she expected the following:
1. Crickets
2. Anyone who DID come into the thread would surely be doing so just to make fun
3. The thread would die on the vine, most likely that very night.
Yet, here were are, 4.5 years later, STILL talking about, with a thread "series" that's now on installment #3 (and still running). Runaway train.
@Katdarling - no more threads, you. ;)
Sincerely,
~Hu Gnu

My wife trains dog owners on how to get their dog(s) to behave or become socialized.
She talks of how aggressive some Shepherds are because they are so owner loyal.

I used to have a beagle mix who'd attack the middle son when he came home after smoking other than tobacco too.

Now regarding the term toodle puffer? Pfft I don't care either way. Perhaps the term can be shortened to "puffer" and that'll be that. Like when the coach Mike Ditka yelled out to refridgerator Perry "hey Perry, get over here!"...

"Hey puffer, what flavor you vapin'. That smells nice."

Some things just catch on, often for reasons we'll never understand.

As much as I don't like the word, "Vaping", it beats the snot out of, "Juuling".

I should probably just stop right there before I get myself into trouble coming with with things, "Juuling" makes me think if.

As Kat likes to say, >

I don't even know if he's still around, but I'll remind you that it was intended to be an insulting term from Jump.

That it took off and ran like it did caught everybody off guard. Risking redundancy (yet again), some things just "are".

For me the most interesting thing is that people actually care. Never lose sight of that the fact that we remain free to call ourselves (individually) whatever the heck we want.

There was a guy in downtown Stamford, years back, who used to stand on a high traffic corner in a Superman getup. Every morning, on my way to the train, I'd walk past him.

Never once did I fail to offer up the greeting (never losing stride), "Whaddup, Supe?"

BE the Superman. Who cares.

Welp. Not that I CAME UP with the phrase or term, but I did glom on to what I thought was a hilarious and negative observation and description of a vape style. (Coined by "Croak", just FYI.)

Coupled with the fact that clouders were storming the vape scene, I truly wondered if anyone still vaped in a lowish watt, highish nic, single simple coil and single battery way.

The TP thread was born of that hilarity and somewhat minuscule observation. And it was all for FUN. From the inception, it grew its own legs and became one of the busiest and most frequented threads here on ECF.

How it's come back to bite me on the derriere at this point stuns and surprises and saddens me.

Obviously, the weight of it now feels like it sits squarely on my shoulders.

And believe me, Ahoy (et al), I've taken a huge time out and not posted more than twice/thrice in this thread. I have been doing not much else BUT thinking long and hard about what I "did". :(

This thread, these comments.... have saddened me greatly.

I can not apologize to any of you who simply do not like the term. I can not take any credit (or punishment) that the expression/term took hold in the vape community in a big way!

But I CAN tell you that each opposing comment strikes a bit of a jab in my heart. You must know I meant no harm nor disrespect to anyone.

I'm sorry, Papaw. Particularly to you. I've always liked and enjoyed you.

Nah Kat sweetie, don't feel bad about the term … some folks may think it sounds strange and others do not... There is a lot worse things that my perverted mind could dream up to call MTL style of vaping, which I am sure would not go over as well as "tootle puffing" ;)

    Kata,

Like your thread, this one was derived to poke fun at ourselves and have a laugh with fellow old school vape types. (Or so it seemed to this puffer.)

So meanwhile back at the ranch.

Don't you dare call this guy a toodle puffer.
    That's a Noodle Puffer...:thumb:

Ouch. First and foremost, never meant you any harm, dear lady. Always thought of you as a fun-loving gal, and I have always looked forward to pictures of your mods and 'Bling' every year.
I didn't say you started the term. I always thought some young inexperienced cloud chaser started that crap.
But I have also found the term "tootle puffer" as a put-down. and a rather derogatory term, at that.
Maybe I should just let this thread die out... seems I've already offended enough people (this time)

Being a conservative, middle aged white guy- I am automatically considered to be so many bad things these days ( whether I am or not makes no difference), that being considered a tootle puffer is soooooo far down the list, it doesn't even register on the radar. I'm old, my hide is thick, and I've been called worse by better.

I always thought the tootle part came from Tootle the Train- a Little Golden Book I read my kids at bed time.

People these days think everybody needs to be labeled and pigeonholed accordingly, by whatever the current cause d'jour is. No thanks.

I don't see as you did any harm, Kat. Who'da thunk that phrase would have stuck???
