You should move to Houston, we got both!!! Oh, I just came up with a sequel to Sharknado!!!
We get tornadoes, floods, blizzards, ice storms, dust storms, bears, rattlesnakes, mountain lions........
And that's just before lunch!

We even have a damn desert!
I mean, where the hell did that come from?!?
Riddle me that, Batman......

If I could move anywhere, it would be to Texas, I like how that state rolls.

Mine, not so much. They just approved a huge teacher raise after some of the most annoying demonstrations ever. Although to be fair, perhaps some parents feel it "cost effective" in comparison to losing their jobs or finding sudden, unexpected child care costs. Oddly, it was the republicans in the house that voted for it, I don't understand.

If there are two professions that can strike with the greatest ease, it's bus drivers (that was last year, I think) or stuff like teachers. They have an unfair advantage as far as disrupting society.

I really thought they wouldn't triumph after disclosing their (half the year) salaries compared to the rest of Tucson. I still don't MIND a pay raise (teaching is hella hard) but I wish they'd tied some performance incentives to it. Teachers have to work hard but I'm pretty sure in Tucson they do not work HARD enough (based on our abysmal record).

I still havn’t heard any calls to arm the teacher since they marched on your capital building. Maybe they are just saving those for the next school shooting... ;););)

A band from Texas actually has a song saying they like Texas better than Oklahoma because "The boys from Oklahoma roll their jo%$ts too tight."
Big hit with the college kids.

I saw a tornado once when I was visiting in Iowa. That was enough of an experience for me. A storm chaser I'm not.
I’ve had two go right over my house. One Took the trees out by the roots right across the street, and threw a dumpster into my lilac bush, but we had no damage. That was a multi million dollar storm. Took out half of the next town. The other one was multiple tornadoes, hit at night and took out several neighborhoods and a big school.

That’s the only thing that freaks me out, the nighttime ones. I may not get a warning for those. During daylight hours I get five minutes to hide me and the pets.

There was a section that eliminated some of their payroll deductions to help increase salary, and our state government took it out and changed some other stuff as well in retaliation for the walk out.
Supposedly there is a new version being drafted, but it'll have to go to be voted on, ratified, and signed by the Gov. all over again.
We'll see if this one makes it through.

I know very little about tornados. I know storm chasers seem to get off on the adrenaline, but as far as I'm concerned it's only a good profession if you are secretly suicidal. I have never (and will never) live in Tornado alley. I'd almost prefer an alligator or 17.

Anna

Tornadoes have been known to shoot a drinking straw through a telephone pole like a bullet.
True story.

I hope to be in this position one day...

My cousin does too.
He's computer programmer for Exxon down your way.
I finally got out of OK, went all over the flipping world, wound up in TX, and now I'm about 90 miles from where I started!
Yep!! You guessed it. There was a woman involved.........
