Ok,

First, at the request of Whitney, dotmod support, if anyone has similar problem with autofiring please contact dotmod support.
Seriously.

Secondly, they pretty much owned the issue. I'll call it miscommunication or simply dropping the ball, not following up or not being on top of instructions being shared with consumers. It just didn't happen and it's recognized and being addressed.

Thirdly, there will possibly be a remedy. I need to be somewhat careful here (hi Whitney, sure you'll find this). My dot is being returned and a new electrode assembly will be put into it.
Not new as in not used but what could be a remedy for the whole mess. @TrollDragon if yours was the one that also autofired please PM me.

Am I giving them a 3rd chance?

Given that they didn't do what I expected and blame me, or pass the buck (well not entirely), and have a possible bonafide fix (and if it actually works) than yes.

I know some will shake their heads, and that's fine, I respect that. Hell I was ready to go nuclear on them. However it's too easy to say "Thanks for your money" and ignore issues. Whitney has made it clear that hard earned money spent on their product does matter, and they will do what they can to fix and respect customers problems.

Wish I could share a little more but promised not to :)

So, use that warranty if it's giving you problems. She asked me to have those of you (lurkers) that have experienced autofire or firing issues to reach out to them. Don't be (jerks) though. An honest effort has been made, and we know how most companies react.

Thanks.

The conversation went way differently than I had imagined.

While I'm vocal, and irritating, it's clear that the issue is recognized and not being ignored or swept under the rug.

Hello my shiny friends I have a question what could possibly be better than 1 Cylon , why as it turns out 2 cylons 1 rocking the theimis mesh and 1 with my mizer. All of my other mods are now on backup or buildout dutys.
I also recieved the vapefly horus that i am looking forward to building out. Now if only my think Vape finder would finally get here.

My wife about sh#t a brick when she googled my AK100 and saw it was $650.
Luckily I still have a lot of connections or I wouldn't have been able to get one. ;)
If I hadn't been able to get mine at cost, I would have gotten the X3 or X7.
The X3 is a great device, and I love the leather case you have on it!
Always great to get a good deal on gear.
That case for the X3 came from an custom leather worker in Bangkok, she does excellent work.

I pondered the iBasso DX50 back when I was looking at DAP's and it was a toss up between that and the FiiO X3. The number of firmware issues with each player was a concern and availability was the final deciding factor. Considering the DX50's were being released in small batch's from iBasso's web shop, I felt that was a little too sketchy.

I don't regret picking up the X3, even with it's collection of half finished firmware releases. The owner of FiiO did have a very active presence on the Head-Fi forums. A bug tracker site was setup for the owners to list the major/minor problems and request a few nice to have features. Like any company with new products on horizon, FiiO abandoned firmware updates and left us with one that was 90% complete. It only took them a year to get the X3 stable from it's initial release... :glare:

If I was going to get another DAP, it would probably be a iBasso DX80 for the dual μSD slots.

I know the feeling. Mine has dual micro SD slots, but they only support 32gig cards each. There's a newer firmware that supposedly ups their capacity, but mine works flawlessly so I've been too scared to update it.
Plus, with 32gig internal and two 32 gig SD cards I've had plenty to get me by so far.
