BTW, removing the nicotine choice from NR's DIY kit does NOT reduce the $49 price (what's up with that? o_O), so a packaged kit that does NOT include nicotine would suit my purposes more... Does any vendor have that? Otherwise, putting one together myself will probably be the way I go, but that means finding a vendor that has everything I want in one place...

What all do you get for that price?

I'm looking at Nicotine River's site for nic salts (saw the nicotine price reduction notice) and I may bite the bullet on grabbing a DIY Kit soon, so I don't have to piece one together myself:

1. Is NR's worth it? (I plan on not selecting a Nic choice, as I have 2 liters of freebase nic already from MFS and I want 100mg, so I can mix easily... Lazy.) Is there anything in their kit that is missing that you consider "essential"?

2. I dig sweet & menthol tobaccos, methols/mints (NO wintergreen though), custards, bakery (i.e., cinnamon roll is one of my favorite types of bakery vape ), candy, some fruits (hate watermelon vapes and I can't seem to taste any strawberry in a vape for some reason o_O), and anything with caramel (i.e., Abolute Creme Brulee and the sweeter RY4s are among my favorite tobaccos), butterscotch, and vanilla, but I want to start simple and not have to buy 8 flavors to make one liquid, you know what I mean. ;) So, at NR, what are the best one-shot flavors that you've come across in that vein?

EDIT: Oops, forgot to mention that although I love chocolate, I hate it in a vape... It either tastes funky or I get nothing. :grr:

3. I realize I do need to grab some additives (sweetener, marshmallow, kiwi? and other types of additives to round out flavors), but what are the ones that are worth it for simple recipes? I'm shooting for flavors that can be one-shots or 2-3 combinations... With that in mind, what additives are the most valuable to you? Sweetener is a given, of course, but are some brands better than others or are they all pretty much the same?

4. Oh, and that Vape Wizard stuff... Is it worth the hype?

Yeah, I probably should have posted these questions in the DIY forum and probably still will, but the topics are so rampant/diverse in this thread, DIY does get discussed here, and I am still in 'shiny' mode, so here I am... :w00t:

I didn’t start with a kit, but if you look at the contents, you’ll get an idea of what you need. Nic, pg, vg, bottles, and some sort of measuring tools. I started with 3 ml pipettes, but now I have all sorts of beakers, looking at a scale.

In the diy section, there are lots of recipes that may give you an idea of which flavors and adds you want to try. Pay attention to the brand, as the flavor will vary greatly from one to another.

I agree, start with the small sample size, 10 ml or so, and get as many as you can. You can always get larger ones when you know what you like.

I’ve been DIY’ing for over 4 years, and suggest starting by testing each flavor solo in whatever base you’re going to vape. Small tests, I do 10 mls but you could go even less. I need to know how that flavor behaves by itself before mixing with others.

Hope that helps some, and if you have any questions, ask in the diy. Very helpful people there.

Even though that's funny @untar my roid rage took a moment to settle down. LOL. Three days left, god help me. I did not sleep WELL last night and I hate it. :)

Oh, God, I'm on Prednisone and am in the middle of the step down to weaning off of it and it can't be soon enough for me. My moods (and purchasing will power) are all over the place, my sleep patterns are whacky, I'm gaining weight that I just lost, and I break out into mad sweats out of nowhere... It truly is a roller-coaster ride! :-x

A lot of kits come with a bunch of stuff you don't need. I bought one years ago. I used pipettes syringes measuring cups and bottles and that's about it. if it is a good deal on flavors then go for it. otherwise you can get what you need for much cheaper. I just got Flavorah Creme de Menthe in the mail. It is a mix of coffee chocolate and mint. Smells delicious! I'll let you know how it is. I mixed it with Purilum Sweet tobacco. I will try it also as a stand alone.

NR's Kit is $49, which includes 15 flavors, 500ml each of PG & VG, and 150ml of 48mg nicotine along with the usual measuring/safety/storage stuff. Haven't researched enough, so not sure if that is considered typical or whether it's a good value or not.

I keep hearing PST tossed around a lot lately, so I think I may need to pick up that one. Unfortunately chocolate vapes and I don't seem to get along, as I've never found one that actually tastes good to me.

That sounds like a great deal to me. I know what I said in the earlier post but that is much better than the kit I got, even if you don't want the nic.

Yep. I use a pair of pliers and a sharpie.
Just keep tension on them and spin until the wire snaps itself off at the sharpie clip.
Cut a length of wire, fold it in half, put loose ends in pliers, then put sharpie pocket clip in the wire fold. Pull gently for tension, then I place sharpie against my thigh and roll the sharpie down it, hold sharpie so it doesn't unwind, move back to top of thigh, repeat until wire breaks off at clip.
Did that make any sense?

Thanks! It sure does. I’m going to give it a “roll” myself!!

I did NRs kit and used the nicotine that came with it. It’s not very much nic but I guess if you already have some it’s overkill. It’s very good nicotine imo but that was when they were using NicSelect. I have no experience with NicPur.

I just hold one end in my hand, and torch it. I do a fairly long piece though, if you want to go for smaller, I'd probably recommend pliers and whatnot.

Anna

Ok thanks that’s what I was doing but then read something about applying tension to it as it heats up.

Most of them, well they don’t have every single thing, but most have everything you need to start.

I get a lot of flavors at ecig express, you can get base as well as a nice range of flavors. I get my vg, pg and bottles from Amazon, and nic from a few places. Like I said you can get most stuff at any site, but I shop around for better prices.

I did quite a bit of research b4 purchasing the NR kit. It was a good $15-25 less than others and all the other kits only came with 10 flavor concentrates not 15. It has everything you need except a small scale if you are going to mix by weight (as I do) or volume. I purchased that on Amazon for about $13.

Oh, if I'm paying $49 for the whole kit, @Skunk! , you better believe I'll add that nicotine! I'm just too lazy to do math to get the mg right with 48mg.
I used to use 36 mg base. I put the nic and flavors then took it up to 6× the nic base to get to 6mg. Was pretty easy.

Bet it would pair well with coffee as well.

I am doing that right now. It is great! PST has steeped almost 2 weeks CDM not at all. It is good already. I am trying to get off energy drinks and back on coffee. I think this will do the trick. Maybe cet some Irish Cream (the N/A kind.) For my coffee before work.

Ebay is great for diy supplies. So is Amazon. Are you going start with mixing by volume (syringes)? I would suggest NR or BCF for flavors. Honestly since you like tobaccos I would go with NR so you could get the Purilum sweet tobacco, easy to work with and very good. Pick up FW butterscotch ripple to go with it, simple two flavor mix right there.
