I am looking for advice from any Daedalus Pro users. My first experiment with it today was a decided failure and I think I had the wrapping wire screwed down too tightly - the wire holder didn't move back as it is supposed to and just continued to wrap wire on top of the wire. Is there a rule of thumb for how tightly the wrapping spool should be that someone can suggest or I am just going to have to get it figured out with trial and error? I know it has to be "just right." What the heck is "just right?" :D
I found that it was all trial and error. Start loose enough that it will feed and wrap and then tighten it as it goes along. That will give you an idea of what is working. Wire is cheap, experiment and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Btw, congrats for trying something new.

OK, I have a question for JFC and the Squonkers (lol), for debate's sake, lets say I was interested in an Athena setup as a starter rig. Opinions?
I don't own an Athena, but I hit my spot with the Pico Squeeze and a Wasp Nano. I've been happy with something around 40 Watts on my VW devices. The Squeeze is a run-of-the-battery regulated and 50 Watt limited.

I put a 0.40 Ohm coil of 26awg SS316L 5/64" ID coil in the Wasp on my fourth go 'round, and wow. Did the math later and that build starts at about 44 Watts and at 3.2v, it falls just below 30 Watts. That's pretty much an all day deal with a 3000mah battery like a 30Q.

The whole deal was under $30, shipped. Of course it took four calendar weeks to get here and missed Christmas, but...

$16.76 Authentic Eleaf Pico Squeeze 50W 18650 Mechanical Mod (Grey) - aluminum / 1*18650 at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

$10.81 Authentic Oumier Wasp Nano RDA Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer - stainless steel + PC / 22mm dia. at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

fasttech lists the Squeeze as a mech, but it is indeed a run-of-the-battery regulated device.

Took the DR SQ and put a .48 coil in it, than popped it on the ....... child of my squonk collection. Yep, the iJoy.

Not horrible at 40w. Have to shut down af a bit. May keep this thing for tractor and wood cutting.

I do however like this wasp.

Just right is the wire you can vape with Pam. Pretty comes later.

There is a lot of "feel" that goes into this. I ended up going back to it for another try tonight and did get the tension right after adjusting is several times. I made a lovely piece of dual-core Clapton wire and then ruined it in the straightening process by twirling it the wrong way. I have to get clockwise and counterclockwise straight on the thing. Practice makes perfect, right? LOL I have a good feeling about this though.

I was just getting ready to ask you about the SQ. How do you like it compared to the Wasp? I'm liking everything about the Wasp so far except for the fact that it doesn't have much of a juice well and with the reduced size there's not much room for wick to hold juice either.

Thanks! I played with the tension on wrap wire with the drill running very slowly and finally got it just right. Then I ruined the piece of wire but that is okay. Lesson learned on that.

Heck yes! I predict you'll be making your own clapton wire in no time.

Nah - I am going to perfect the process and make @Letitia all of the Clapton wire she wants. I bet she can pronounce Daedalus correctly. ;)

You are just so very wrong. Took me months to finally buy the tri core fc spool instead of ordering more pre-built coils. Tools and I have an understanding. ..I don't use them and they don't injure me or my house.

I'll be you best customer if you can get my preferred fc down pat. Not so sure about the Daedalus pronunciation tho.

Alright, absolutely last thing I'm going to order.

As for the DR SQ vs the wasp, they're both good rdas. The wasp is very airy and warm, where the SQ is easier to control and warm only when you want it to be. Think control is the biggest difference.

Hi. My name is smacuser and I'm an addict.

I am minutes away from buying an RTA I thought I needed only a few hours ago. Since Thursday is payday, I planned on being sly and get that flavoring, plus a couple (10) others ;), and a couple (six) batteries I need (not really). I also spied a chuff cap on clearance thanks to a link I saw earlier.

If anyone wants to be my sponsor, I'd be in your debt.
