Mine look more like this
that's pretty close to how my grandma taught me to do them (she was half Basque/French half Italian), still got her wooden thingemajigg to do the ridges.
I'll just fry the cooked gnocchi in brown butter and sage and drizzle a tablespoon of that sauce on the plate.
The other way I do them is with fresh tomatoes dissolved in a bit of olive oil with herbs, small onion and garlic. Ratio of sauce to gnocchi is way different, it should just be a slight coating, not a soup.
Note that both ways are vegetarian without resorting to some kind of abomination
If he served that in Italy he'd probably be at the bottom of the ocean with concrete shoes 5 minutes later^^
