Remember it's plastic, not Ultem!!! Great price, really!!!
I already have the all black preordered. Didn't go with the fake Ultem. People need to consider the cost of polished ultem and how much those editions would have cost if lost vape went that way.

Noooooo. I have a 2012 non retina MacBook Pro and I'm going to swap it as fast as I can. The only thing I like is the Mini for a TV setup.

RIP 2012

My 2008 died last year and ended up getting a 2015 MBP -- the ones that still had all the sockets and what not.

Babydoll's 2012 died about 3 months ago. Hers was fully loaded and still great performance wise. Not sure if I should try to replace the battery or buy her a new one in March.

I use windows on my desktops. I like it better for gaming and what not. I've owned about 6 Windows laptops and i've always had them just suck after a year or so. Major slowdowns even after reformatting. Since I got my 2008 MBP in 2009 I never had issues again. Used it until 2017 (8 years) and it was still pretty chippy. The battery just died and I wanted a new shiny.

I have a 27 inch iMac too. It's maybe 5 years old now? Still super fast. I gave it to my mom when she moved away so we could keep in touch. I miss it sometimes, especially for graphic design and video editing.

Entry level 13 inch MBP is $1700 CAD. With our employee discounts we get them for around $1450 CAD. I can't even imagine what that would be in ARS with import fees. Too bad they cost so much, but at least they last for years. In my 8 years with my 2009 MBP I would have probably bought 6 Windows laptops at $500-$1000 each.

Keep in mind the all black is also the same plastic. It’s just black plastic instead of the ultem colored plastic.

Polycarbonate comes in different grades, the lower the grade the cheaper the cost. To achieve the same or similar mechanical properties as Ultem, PC can actually be more expensive. You can lower costs by going with a lower grade PC, but sacrifice integrity in doing so. Always a compromise

Good morning shiners! So Cut is on the slow boat but is at least at sea, so that's something. Otherwise just some experimental juices due for Saturday. Now that the Cut is on the way I need to order some more 40Ts. I figure with a couple of weeks lead time I should be able to get them fully charged up. I love my Nitecore D4, but with at best 750 mAh for two batteries it takes a while to fill them. I'm not really sure how mucha difference a 1A charger would make over that, but it does get tiresome charging them up. Good thing they have such a long run time.

My daughter uses Macs. Apparently if you're in the creative field no one takes you seriously unless you show them stuff on one. Every time I have to help her out of she hits a wall I want to pull my hair out because everything is in the wrong place. Used to be you could just go the command line and muck around until you get what you want. I really hated it when they locked out the root in OSX. The strongest part of it is that it really is just a really fancy shell on Unix.

Still, when she started architecture school and needed something to render all those CAD things, we price compared a Mac Pro (the trashcan version back then) for $10K and a Windows box with a 6 core Xeon CPU, forgot the MN make but it took 32 GB RAM and a Quadro graphics card for $3,500 it was an easy decision to switch over. She could do really complex renders in 45 minutes compared to the 2-3 hours on the Mac machines in her studio.

I preferred her getting her own than grabbing time on the 2 machines shared by 8 students as it meant she was able to get 4 hours of sleep a night vs 2. Architecture schools are nuts. I've never seen so many zombie students from sleep deprivation wandering around. They worked those kids harder than even medical school.

The ironic part is she now doesn't even want to practice architecture but contemporary art work for curation and exhibition design ibstead. Her skill set is still great for that as art history was her other major (yes, she just had to double major on top of what her archi program demanded) and is now in a graduate school for art and art business.

I was really concerned when she decided on this route as to her ever finding an actual job, but she has gotten work as a part time gallery director while in school. Too bad the pay sucks, but she loves what she's doing, which I guess is all that really matters.

More and more creative content users, that do not have the budget for specialized proprietary equipment, are switching over to Windows based PC’s given one can build a faster machine at a lower cost plus receive the needed support.

The whole thought of Apple is better at creative content than Windows has not been a fact since the late 90’s. And since Apple has switched over to an Intel x86 architect, the components used are identical. The failure rates for Apple computers are on par with competitively priced Windows PC’s. The operating system does not dictate how or when a hard drive fails.

Neither OS is perfect – there are pro’s and cons to each. We choose what suits us best.

OMG!! Plastic on a vape mod?? Wow, better cancel that order
I'm waiting to see if they used the same garbage 510 and tiny breakable button supports as on the OG Drone.
The plastic case is a really moot point for me.

What was wrong with the original 510? Never paid too much attention. I’m not bothered by the use of plastic on a mod providing it is done right.

510 and tubing is exactly the same. Button mount is different. But the entire front panel, support mounts, and board mounts are all pc so dunno if long term structural integrity is improved at all.

Buttons definitely feel better mounted.

I've become a Lost Vape and DNA fan over the last year. Have over a dozen LV mods and love them all.

The new Drone is a no to me though due to the pretty much all PC construction. Especially the battery door. I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect it will be a problem with cracking.

I don't mind plastic on a mod, or even all plastic mods if done right. I suspect in their desire to cut weight, it was at the expense of durability. Problem is, if I wait to see if others have issues, it will most likely be out of production and unavailable by then.

I'm a low wattage vaper, 30w usually my max. My single battery squonks work just fine for me. I'm honestly interested in this because it's a LV/DNA product. I would personally get another Triade before I spent the money on the new Drone though.

I suspect the cracks around the battery door magnets will be an issue and without an option of an aluminum door, I'm going to pass sadly. :(

If they made it out of PC, but had a 'real' door, I would be watching for it's release and would be in line. The door on a mod like this (dual battery squonk) is large and constantly removing it, etc, let alone possible dropping will put a lot of stress on the 'weak spots' where the PC in the door is thinner to accommodate the magnets. I'm just not convinced they have resolved this issue this quickly since many of the recent review samples appear to have the problem.

A shame, it looks like a great mod (to me) other than this.

I'm definitely disappointed that they didn't keep the original body. If you watch all of the reviews on the OG Drone every one of them points out that it's heavy. They don't say too heavy, they just point it out. I think Lost Vape took that too literally and decided on a complete overhaul of materials which was a mistake, especially when you consider how well the OG sold and demand was still there in a big way.

They should have added the 250C and made some minor improvements, nothing else. Having said all of that, I love the DNA chip, I use replay daily and the options for a dual battery DNA are limited. I don't like the 3D printed mods and the Think Vape version is just gross.

I'm looking forward to getting the new Drone, but not as much as if they'd kept more of the old one.

Morning. I’m sure I have missed a post or 2, but how are the fur babies? Bet they are getting big.
They are getting big and distinctive personalities have emerged. I'll snap some pictures later today.
