What a winning morning for me... I just set off one of our fire alarms by vaping directly under it (I was trying to adjust the thermostat). Thank goodness the husband had already left for the morning.... That's an awaking I NEVER want to experience, especially since he already set the house one fire once.... Extreme trauma is never fun to listen to, that's for sure.

It was a tiny little tootle puff, too. I believe I may be uncertain about vaping in hotel rooms anymore... And I'm certainly not about to TRY any DL setups NOW, that's for sure... Hmm... perhaps this is a shinyitis win in some fashion?

I had shinyitis the first few years I vaped, but I kept it reasonably under control by just window shopping for the most part. I've averaged around 2 mods a year for the last 5 1/2 years and maybe 4 atties per year. More in the first few years when things were changing and improving so fast, less now.

I'm pretty set in my ways these days. Really happy with a Pico 75 with a Rose V3 on it. Add a couple more mods, one for use in the workshop and a beater for really dirty conditions ... plus a couple of other atties just for the heck of it and I'm set. Fancy screens, big mods, multi battery mods, squonkers, mech mods, and drippers don't do much for me anymore.

Might be a bit boring, but it works for me :)

Either you don't have shinitis or you are great at window shopping, but either way, congrats. It doesn't sound boring to me but it does sound practical. :)

Thank you :)

One thing that also helps me keep shinyitis under control is that I've believed for quite a while the hardware, as long as it works reasonably well and is suitable to my vape style, is not going to make much difference to my vape experience. That's specially true for mods which are really just power supplies with some added features for vaping. For tanks, I'm always between 15 - 22 watts and my favorite overall is the Rose V3. I thought there might be something better out there but after trying a Merlin, a Taifun GT3 and a Ubertoot which all vape just as well, I've come to the conclusion there is nothing better overall for me and that at this point it's all about how they are set up.

I've been an avid photographer for 35 years and I learned the same with camera gear. As long as your hardware is good enough to make a good quality picture of the scene you want to photograph, getting better gear is not going to make anyone a better photographer.

I still get a bit of shinyitis once in a while, but I have a small house which fills up pretty quick which is another thing that helps :D

My shinyitis never really kicked in. (thank goodness! Whew!)

Found my nirvana and never looked for anything more. All the stuff that I have bought was only to possibly get me through vape apocalypse if it came down to that. So it was more of buying duplicates and triplicates of gear that had proven its longevity.

Good luck for all those that do have shinyitis! ;) I know it is a tough thing to deal with...

Me three but once I was gifted a Dragon Provari I did start lusting for another one,
got it and then had to get one more :D I do wish I had gotten one earlier on my vaping journey.

I hope that someday I can get to that point. Right now vaping is new for me and relatively inexpensive so until I get bored I will continue attending Shinyitis support group meetings.

If you decide you want to get rid of your Taifun GT3 I call "first".

Very nice, but.....what about a backup????

Yes, we can all back them up extremely well, you should see some of the places we can stick em.
Oh, you meant backup, one is being retired the others are in fine shape, we always have a backup.

I bet it hits like a Mack truck.
Yup, it has & needs a lot of airflow... but, I only have one Mack, for a backup.

I am spending less, as I have accumulated a bunch of nic, a lot of flavors to keep me happy, and whatnot. I'm hoping the continued less spending continues... I think it probably will, but MAN, what gets me are those IMPULSE purchases. I might have to make a rule that I just copy and past the link into a word file and wait until the next day before I purchase, while thoroughly researching the mod. That sounds pretty boring, so it just might work.

I will say (with the exception of some rather intense Provaritis) that my purchasing has slowed considerably and I am FAR less likely to buy something I won't use. I think I'm on the right track (hopefully) and I think I am (hopefully).... My mom just emailed me to ask what I wanted for Christmas, and I really would prefer money so I can give it to the kid.... There is nothing I need. Or, more craftily (my mom hates when she gives me stuff and I give it to the kid, and I get her point) find out something the kid really wants and then ask for that.

Progress... :)
