Today I became a great-grandma. I am much too young for all of this. I became a grandma at 42. Newly divorced and did the gym every other day and was rocking a lowered Prelude with a thumping stereo. I was horrified when I was told I would be a grandma because I felt so young. I taught my grandson to call me Mimi because I did not want to be called Grandma in public. This same grandson made me a great grandma today. I will teach her to call me G.G.
I also bought my first iphone today because I am tired of the stupid Androids breaking.
No shiny for weeks now

Congrats!!! We will get pictures I hope?

I was a grandma at 43. One of my SILs tried to goad me, often saying “Doesn’t that make you feel OLD?” It didn’t really. And maybe I embraced it even more because she was trying to get under my skin. I taught my grandchildren to call me Granny. But age is weird in my family because there are so many of us and I’m the youngest of my siblings - I have a niece only 8 years younger than me, and great niece as old as another niece, and a nephew who’s a grandpa.

Momma bunny is safe back here and I’ve been leaving her water and a bowl of food everyday. I just keep topping it up when I see it’s gone. She lets me pet her gently now and comes running up to me when I come around the corner to fill up the food. Tonight she had a 5 course meal of rabbit pellets hay, carrots then bannna and a bit of oranges. Her Baby hasnnt come around all day I’m a little worried but hopeful he’s out exploring. He was so tiny though.

Baby bunny would pick the carrots and fruit out of the dish and leave the hay/pellets behind haha

I always joke and say rabbits are a protected species around here. People know not to mess with my rabbit friends ;) I usually hang with them instead of humans on my lunch breaks. That’s how I like it

She sure is a beauty! All we have are those tawny ones. I usually find a nest or two every year. They leave momma and the nest when quite small - Stevie’s baby looks old enough that she’s been on her own for a while. They sometimes stay in the same range they were born in if there’s enough resources. My yard has a lot of cover (meaning weeds mostly, but shrubs too) so they can find cover. I got a shallow 1” deep water pan for them so they wouldn’t try to drink out of the pool.

Good morning Shiny's.

Must be a good part of the north and east got that windy cold front yesterday. We were in the low 80's and muggy, then around 5pm is started getting very windy with gusts up to 60mph and heavy rain. Trees down and thousands without power. :( Today's highs in mid to upper 50's but sunny. Only 39 right now. Ma Nature sure is fickle this time of year.

It’s 35 here but I won’t complain seeing as so many of you who live where it’s generally much warmer have similar temperatures. That, plus I made it through the wind without losing power.

The only kids who came last night were my nephew’s two. I gave them a whole bag of candy.

Morning all! Does anyone have a double barrel v3? I just got one and the battery door will not stay closed when there’s no batteries in it. I thought was broken so didn’t bother any further. I got curious this morning and loaded it with batteries. I managed to finagle it to close and seems fine but of course I’m terrified batteries are going to come blasting out.
Is the loose door normal? I can’t find any complaints of this anywhere. Thanks in advance!!

We had the same winds last night, but not as cool as you, high 40’s.

I remember as a child in NY you needed a coat by the end of October, and snow early November. Now we’re rarely need a coat until after Thanksgiving and our winters are milder although when we do get a snowstorm it can be, relative to this area, a big one. Last winter was a very light run without any big snowstorms, we’ll see what this year brings.

High winds are typical this time of year here. They’re called the November Witch. Not much else typical about Ohio weather. Anything can happen. That lake really plays havoc.

It’s 3 degrees Celsius right now where I am and the wind is bone chilling. 530 am and sure glad it’s Friday. Pay day too

Aw that’s nice. Thanks for reassuring me about the baby. I’m still gonna make Stevie a nest for these cold winter days. She doesn’t get picked on by other bunnies back here. The others tend to steal her food away from her. Back her she likes it because she can be set up like a queen behind lifts where she’s pretty safe. She still likes exploring and chilling under lumber racks form time to time lol hence why I honk my horn to warn her when picking up lumber racks

Im not familiar with the double barrel but I'm guessing it's got a flip type door. They are always better when they've got some pressure on them but it should still close without batteries. If you got it recently I'd open a claim and try for a replacement... Sorry I can't be more help :)

You are SUCH an amazing person. Thank you for joining ECF and hanging out with us. Seriously. I get so much joy from your posts :)
I second this Rickyvapes! I love your love for animals, your ease in telling of your past (mine would scare you and included self injections)
do not let one mindless person make you feel like you do not belong here.

First...congratulations on great grandmahood:D.

I wish you could meet my doctor friend. She specializes in the addictions and is the most understanding, compassionate and educated person when it comes to all things "addictable". She's the one who asked me for info on vape products for her patients who can't quit the cigs.
My first DR, that I went to when I could no longer breathe well, was like this. He is nows retired. He told me about a magical device that imitated a cigarette and came in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. I then went in search and found the ecig. He GOT it. So many DR's do not. Working in mental health I wanted to throw up on my shoes daily as I heard psychiatrists and nurses tell the mentally ill to just STOP using drugs. As if it were just a simple choice for someone with schizophrenia who did not even recognize their own mind from one day to the next.

And the storm hits the North Country with a bang - 65mph winds, ~2 inches of rain last night. Lost power hours ago. Trees are coming down non-stop. One structure on our property just came down and a vehicle in the parking lot is damaged. We have partial power via a generator so I am able to continue running the business. Mrs Sloth (chief of local FD) has been out since 3am dealing with downed trees and lines. The snow should be starting soon...

To anyone who is in this storm's path I hope you are safe. :nun:

Oof. Sounds like you now have what blew through here. The winds are always the worst part at causing damage. And the cleanup is always a challenge. Both of you stay safe!
