Morning all.

@virm don't add any marshmallow or sweetener etc until later. That was the hardest thing for me to learn, not to use additives before I knew what additives it would actually need.

Marshmallow is essential once in a while, but it’s a last resort for me. I only use it when it’s the only way to round off a sharp flavor. I use it like an equalizer.

I'm a news junkie. Always have been but today I just couldn't go there. Wasn't really a conscious decision at first.
Instead it was NZ fishing vids and a great doco about the incredible Voyager space missions. American ingenuity at it's best.

Night all. Probably catch you in the wee small hours.

with the scales_ what switch time am i looking for? unless you guys know a plugable brand

I bought an American Weigh scale from Amazon, under $30. It’s not available right now but I’m sure there’s something similar. I have a battery operated one also, that was cheaper, but I really recommend a plug in. Much easier.

Looks to me as if I threw money away. Only ordering from US in future.

At this point I've decided they're gone. Not even going to check anymore.

I wouldn't give up hope yet. It did ship on the 14th, so it may be stuck in customs on the US end. These are hardly normal days, so I'm not at all surprised if US customs is all messed up. I expect that applies to all items going through other than medical supplies, not just vaping.

I am reading a lot about this lately. Someone else, maybe NolaMel, mentioned that she feels it mutes other flavors. Interesting.
I have two recipes for Barney Rubble and one has more marshmallow then the other. My friend swears she can tell a difference in the two and does not like the one that has more marshmallow. I always felt like she was crazy and was sort of insistent on following the recipe (the one that had more) as I had more trust in the person that listed it.

I'm one that can taste marshmallow as low as .25% and don't like it at all. Meringue works out much better for me as an unobtrusive light sweetener or to boost mouthfeel. Might be the same for your friend. I use Purilum .25-1% but from what I've read FA meringue is pretty similar in taste & weight.

So if a recipe has Meringue and Marshmallow, one could just leave out the Marshmallow? current recipe reads meringue at 3.50% and marsh at 1%

A very early good morning shiners. I hope everyone is following the 6 ft separation rule for Covid 19, my grandsons best friends father is on a ventilator after being exposed to the virus. He lives about 7 miles away from me. I truly hope all of you are washing your hands with soap and hot water very frequently, please stay indoors if possible and limit exposure with anything outside of your home.

My daughter's best friend got it last week. First one I've heard of personally.

I wash my hands a lot and wear masks and gloves when I go out. Yesterday the lock on my screen door broke, I had to go out the other door and take the frame off to get it open. Went to Lowes to get a new one and it was as busy as normal. I was the only customer there wearing a mask. The staff had masks and plastic screens in front of their stations. The cashier lady said that only started on Friday. I saw a handful of folks with masks on my last supermarket trip.

They just declared my town an emerging hot spot. One shopping trip a week and no visitors for me. Me and her are old with dodgy lungs.

I had to stop at walgreens after work Friday on not one employee was wearing gloves or masks. Most places around here the employees are all wearing gloves and some are using masks as well. Have only seen one shopper with a mask on anywhere.

thanks all_ gonna look for a plugable calibratable scale tooday..

One scale that is highly recommended is the AWS LB-501 Digital Scale. It's 500 grams max. weight at a .01g. Battery and AC adapter and comes with two (2) 200 grams cal. weights and a spill bowl. I've not had any issues with mine but have only been using for about 2 months.

My first outside shopping of any kind in almost 3 weeks on Thursday. Went to Home Depot to get plants for the garden. It was weird, and not confidence inspiring.

First, you can't enter through the garden center and stay outside. I asked the guy at the door how it made sense to funnel everyone through the same front door, and he said it was a health dept. regulation - so he could regulate the traffic...only in through one front door, and only out through the other. I'd have much rather stayed outside to shop & make the purchase. I had put a couple of clorox wipes in a grocery bag, and didn't touch the handle of the cart. Pulled it from the front, using the bag. When I needed to pick up a plant by the pot, I used the wipes to hold them. When I crossed someone's path from the opposite direction, I found myself reflexively holding my breath for a few moments. I had other stuff I wanted to get for projects during this down time, but just wanted to get the plants and get the hell out of there.

Of course, they had x's made with the blue painter's tape at the checkout, with 6 ft. spacing. All good, except a woman and her daughter in the aisle next to me got to theirs. Daughter stands on the tape, mother stands directly next to her daughter- keeping her 6' behind, but only 2' from me (closer than would be comfortable in normal times), so I just moved away. I guess she thought the virus could only move forward and back, but not sideways.

Then, the young girl checking me out: Wearing gloves, who knows for how long, and what all they'd touched- I'd pull the plant up and hold it out with code facing her so she could scan it. She kept reaching out to grab and hold the plant while she scanned it. Brilliant, and well trained.

Hopefully, it's the last time I'll need to shop for a while. Grocery stores are still delivering, but not quickly. And they never have eggs, but everything else has been in stock.
