Cmon guys credit where it's due! Roy Halee did the recording and mixing. The mix is where the musical balance, soundscape, stereo field is created. One song might take days to mix and a well mixed album will sound almost unchanged after mastering. Mastering is the final process that might take half an hour per song. Greg Calbi is a safe pair of hands but can't take credit for how good Gracelands sounds.
Oh, oh... sorry Pigs. I thought that was a given.

I know the real magic starts with you, Mr. Pigs, placing the proper mics (another art), levels then the recording. I always thought of the mixing as "very much on its own and special". You mixing folk are the artists who bring the Music to Life.

I've sat in some mastering sessions, and yes. Find settings, rinse, wash and repeat. Yawn. Pretty boring compared to recording/mixing sessions, right? I mean all the gear is awesome in both worlds. But yeah. :D :p

I did a bit of research a while ago on the name Brunhilde and Valkyrie was the only one I could say properlyo_O
So I think I'll just go My Valkyrie and the days of week like SMT recommends:lol:
But . . . but . . . but Sanngriðr means "very violent, very cruel." How can you resist?

P.S. The ð is pronounced like the th in "this."

I'm running it wide open with no mtl insert and no chimney/chamber reducer. The draw is still on the restricted side, more restricted than the Gear rta wide open. It's definitely in your ballpark Ms @Katya :D

TY! Oh why didn't they go just a little further on the MTL side, ~2mm insert? :grr: I wonder how it would vape with no inserts + chamber reducer. :sneaky:

Stays on the list!

ETA: Hello, Shinies! Enjoy your Tuesday/Wednesday, summer/winter, day/night! ;)

Zlide/Zenith
Those two always confuse me. I have to go see which one I have ...pause... ok, 2 Zenith D22's. Got them last year after a few of us in the stocking up thread were talking about having them as backups in case we are unable to build someday.
And JC (( )) found a place that had coils on the cheap. Scooped up a whole bunch of 0.8's and 1.6's. The Zenith is a fine tank and the coils last. Especially w/flavorless.

Sorry about the soapbox SMT;) but it's a longstanding gripe of mine - you get it . Great mastering engineers are rare and valuable humans but often given more credit than they deserve. Mastering back in 1986 (og Gracelands release) was mostly the process of translating a mix on to (eventually) vinyl by maximizing the limits of the format and making sure the bass didn't cause the needle to jump out of the grooves and also to make sure sibilance did't cause distortion. It was also called disc cutting. These days it's mostly about getting maximum level to a digital format without destroying the mix. Sometimes mastering can do wonders and really help/fix what was a poor mix but if the mix is good then the mastering should be almost invisible.

And on the vape front...my Dvarw has hit Sydney. Hopefully should arrive in my mailbox before the weekend!

Pretty sure it would still be in your ballpark w/no insert. With the 1.8mm insert installed it is airier than a Kayfun Prime set to 1.8mm AF. I suspect that is due to the dual sided AF vs single on the Prime.

The chamber reducer installed intensifies/condenses the flavor and vape. Without it both are still intense. Atmizoo sells inserts with 2, 2.2, 2.5, 2.8, 3mm AF.

Do they now? Wow! Good to know. Thanks, SMT! Just what I need! WOOT!

Hmm, anyone knows if those would work with the clones? I want to try the clone first, if I like it, I'll get the original.

Honestly, my 24mm 4 ml Zlide (24 mm Zenith ) is a much better tank and a better vape overall. Not sure why, but it's just more open, smoother, fuller.

It may all be in my head because I dislike 22mm 2 ml tanks in general, but I don't think so.

That's interesting. Just like the Dvarws. I wonder why they are abandoning outside AFC. I still believe that the diameter (size, shape) of the airflow hole under the coil is the most important, but I really like the combination of both--under the coil and the outside air intakes.

The nice thing with these airflow inserts, you can easily change them out, without disturbing your coil, they just slide in and out under the coil.

Finally a tank for us in the middle. At least on paper. Too bad it's another 22mm tank.

    Those cloners are fast: ;)

$17.70 Haar Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 4ml / 316 stainless steel / 22mm diameter at FastTech - Free Shipping
Yes, a super fast cloning with the Haar. Likely has something to do with the fact that the authentic is made in Hong Kong. That is a first for any V&D atty.

In the category of useless info. From the V&D site: Haar the name for the RTA comes from a sea fog that occurs on the East Coast of Scotland and the logo that is engraved in the tank and AFC is a frequently used symbol representing a Haar.

V&D's Theatro RTA also looks really nice. It's an airy MTL to RDL. Up to 5ml tank. Mark Todd has a good review on it. Another one that's on my list (my list is all messed up already).

I know. But I'm an airflow freak. I like to adjust everything--under the coil and on the outside--both sides, not just one.

That's why I love my Hastur so much--24mm, 4 ml capacity, and AF adjustments galore. :D

I noticed that, but I remember that K4 clone was available on FT before the original hit US stores. ;)

It's a beautiful name, unless your German is better than your Scottish. ;)
