From @Daniel Forsyth and myself:

We have some bad news about @Rob B. which he said was ok to share you all.

Rob knows his friends on ECF have been concerned about his recent absence. In an email exchange with Dan and I he shared the following news-

After a period of bad headaches over the last couple of months, Rob's doctors discovered an inoperable brain tumor.

In his words "the prognosis sucks".

The details of Rob's path going forward are private but I'm sure we all wish him the best. In his email he said the following:

I truly appreciate everyone's thoughts, prayers, and wishes, but I don't have the energy or emotions to deal with this. I have greatly enjoyed my time at ecf, and I wish you all and your families, long, safe, and healthy lives. ❤

How awful! Thanks for letting us know.

I can't hold this to myself anymore. With the whole covid disaster we decided on a little change of lifestyle. We love travelling overseas and that being not possible for the foreseeable future, we decided to travel NZ...on bicycles....E bikes.
I'm like a little kid waiting to go pick up the bikes on Saturday

I'm telling you it puts a smile on your face as soon as you hit those pedals....hills no problem.
We'll be hooking them at the back of the car and go see places in this beautiful country.
Nice bikes! Traveling NZ like that sounds like great fun. Hope you two have a blast. :D

    Good morning shinies

Sorry about your job. I hope that other door opens right away.

P.S. I understood what you wrote without a lick of help! It's comforting to learn I retained a bit from the 365 days in a row I spent studying Spanish on Duolingo a couple of years ago.

Gracias, eso espero yo tambien y te felicito por aun poder entender espanol ;)

I'm sorry to hear about your job. Our fathers hold great wisdom and yours is right. My father taught me the same.
May the next door to open hold even greater promise for you.
Seriously that is just crap. But it does give you that lil window you were looking for

Sorry to hear about the job...is it covid related?
I hope you get another one soon :)

Thank you all for the support and wise word. @charlie1465 yes is Covid related. I work (o worked ) as a tutor for young people as a second chance for education and because of Covid (even if we are lucky enough not to have cases in the community and be fairly free to move around) we didn't get enough referrals, after the locdown, here so it not economically good for the company (money talks) to keep this location open.

That is a great idea Fred. Lucky you found a bike I heard there is a shortage of bikes in NZ . . E-bikes amazing, traveling NZ even better. North or South island?

I don't know what to say but certainly loosing a job is nothing compared with what Rob is going through. I wish him the best and I will be thinking of him. Such a great guy, oh my no words

Somehow I missed this truly horrible news when I was here earlier today. I am so very, very sorry.

So sad to hear about Rob. We had our difference of opinion but all things considered he's a good guy. It's ruining my day so far thinking about it...especially him and that beautiful boy being so close. Yeah life is so short people. We need to make every opportunity count. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

    Where's the dog baskets
LOL I considering it. Even had a look at some, but that damn dog is 40kg...and little one has a mind of her own. And I have to carry the granny bags on the rear carrier...:lol:We'll see going forward.

Anything else I say won't make sense right now not even to me, but I wish him all the best.

Thank you Ma'am. Yeah we were lucky. Right time, right place. Went to several shops over several weekends. Stocks are low with new ones months away. They're in high demand atm.
We'll start slow...local market (14km one way) on Saturdays to get the vegetables for the week... do some local trials and expand from there. I'm soooo looking forward to all the fantastic bike trials all over.

That sounds amazing Fred. When you both go on the big adventure we want pictures as stated above. It will be actually lovely to just roam around on them either locally or further away. Oh and I also want your thought on e-bikes, never tried one but hilly parts e-bikes sound appealing since I am in no shape to do it in a normal bike

Things can only get better after it went bad. Sorry about the situation you're in as well. Something better might come along soon enough.

You know the rules state that E bikes will get you relegated to the back of the peloton plus time docked. And possibly your maillot jaune taken away.

In all seriousness you better leave your best Julian Alaphilippe ride on the road. Especially in NZ's version of Alpe d'Huez. :D
