So my shiny peeps I have something to share. I have been putting of an upcoming review just because I needed to build an RDTA (bare in mind I have never build before) watched some YouTube videos (not many out there yet). I gather the nerve and I did...in saying so my first wicking was to tight sooooo I burned the cotton a bit :lol: in the trash it went. So I said to myself "don't give up" and I tried again with, of course less cotton, and so far no burnt taste so I will call it a win and my first successful build ever :banana:

I feel like a champion :lol::lol:
Way to go! :thumbs:

With the perfect amount of cotton you should feel some resistance on your fingers as you pull the wick side-to-side in your coil. Not real heavy resistance, nor too light. If it's too loose in the coil the tank may flood.

Good morning shinies :wub:

Hopefully you're all having a good day.

@Pigs Confession....I totally made a mistake saying my SQuape Arise had shipped and the manufacturer. I got totally mixed up with 2fdeal and 3Fvape who have shipped my lost vape Grus but am still waiting for the Arise which is made by Ulton.....sorry :)

Please post one of your photos with all of the above in it.

I dare you. ;)

No going back in time until you post that photo, Corp Momma. Don't worry we won't make fun of the soccer mom minivan. :lol:
And I do remember, so the custom van Himself bought will do.

You brought all this to the attention of Shiny-peeps. Now we want to see those pics. :D
:lol::lol::lol:
I don’t know if any exist anymore honestly. I’ve never been fond of having my picture made. Suits and shoulder pads got ditched as soon as I quit being the bread winner. Bet if I can find one, I’m in jeans and some sort of ll bean boot or moc, or cowboy boots.
Def no pictures of the much unloved minivan ( it came as a surprise push present for soon to arrive Princess #3, so slightly overwhelmed when I had it lol). It was an awful plumy burgundy with cloth interior. And no athletes here, so I failed to get promoted to soccer mom.
I do miss that conversion van though. Beautiful Tennessee black walnut cabinets with storage for days. I have pictures of my very first car, but honestly never thought about taking a pic of all the others. I’m finally back to a large suv. Midsize was just a little limited on what I could haul. And no, no pictures of it either lol. It’s lovely though :lol:
Since you asked for pictures... here’s my handsome puppy and his bff CA385A9C-DC35-4881-838F-24F3C7F4F40C.jpeg

Sammy is gorgeous!!! :wub: Thank you for the pic. I've been wondering how he's doing. His coat is nice and shiny. What is he now like 55-60 lbs?

And who is his cute bff?

Good job !!!

Thank you :blush:

Do you want a side view pic of the wick tails before or after they're tucked in? Or both?

Here is a top view of the wick tails trimmed, all fluffed, and ready to be tucked in. I didn't post it before cause I thought @Pigs might not need it. Should have just posted it with the rest.

BTW those tails are ~1.5mm extended from the edge of the SS deck and you can see that best with the lower tail. And yes, I did measure the tails in case I was asked. I made them a little longer because I was filling the tank with 50/50 DIY juice. With 50/50 a little more wick IMO is better because 50/50 is thinner vs 80vg/20pg.

When I use thicker 80/20 I trim the tails right up to the edge of the ematalised aluminium (tan part of the deck) and simply lay the tails into the juice wells.

Per StattQualm, never jam, or pack, the wick tails in the Arise deck, lightly placed is perfect for optimal performance. But as with all things vape, YMMV. Whatever works, works. ;)

Top notch STM. This picture is very explanatory. I don't want to be a pain but maybe next time (not in a hurry) a side view. Just wondering how low the tails go :lol:. I did liked the Arise review and even more now that is your top pick. That says a lot. If I remember correctly It can do RDL..I think :w00t:. Want to see @charlie1465, @Nailz and @Pigs thoughts on the different clones one ;).

Thank you STM. With my first wick I thought it needed that much resistance :facepalm: clearly not the case, like you said just a slight resistance, not sliding just like that. Of course I will need more practice because I feel like it should have been in between the tight wick and the current one but luckily isn't an RTA :lol:. At least now I feel like I can tackle them or at least try.

I do have a question tho about a prebuilt coil. I was stumped at first because of the legs of the coil, both facing the same side but one above and one below. Is that normal? I hope I make sense o_O

Depends on where you get them. Just wind one leg to suit your deck. Some sites will offer different leg direction and both counter and clockwise winds. Anne has some good links for all. Pick her brain on the common vocabulary used when looking for something specific.

Thank you, he’s clearly a byb/not breed standard dog, but I think he’s most handsome. I can’t lift over 70 pounds with my back, so I know he’s well over that. September he was 72 at the vet’s. He’d been gaining about 5-7 a month up till then, so at about a year he’s at 80/85% of his adult weight. Males tend to fill out years 2 & 3. The handsome ginger boy is my grandpup Captain Cooper. He was Monk’s bff, and Sam helped heal his broken heart too. They are tied at the hip when he’s here.
We all forgot the fab Farah do of the late 70’s. Two sets of rollers and a can of white rain and you were good to go :lol::lol:. Catch them while I leave em up.... second one is from my time at Oxford Univ, and I had it long again, but there’s the beautiful perm

    You are a champion, and I felt the exact same way after my first build :wub:

    And if your legs are in the same direction or opposite and you want to change them for your deck - with it on a coil rod, I usually pull one leg until it takes off half a wrap.

    Play around with some RDA decks, a coiling rod and some 26g wire and you'll soon figure it all out. But be very careful, rebuildables are addictive :thumbs:

    Beautiful photo's Mel. You are a Looker and have an awesome Smile!!! Luv 'em. :) You make two sets of rollers and white rain sound quick. Not here it wasn't. IIRC "all" that was a project. Rollers and hair spray, yep my wife was all that plus the curling iron thingamabob. She even had what I called her "woman's workbench" with mirrors and lights for putting on all that other stuff. :facepalm: It's funny, I would be ready to go out in minutes BUT had to wait for her to do her "stuff" before we could go. Sometimes I felt like I was waiting for a house to be built. I need to go find some photo's.

    Sammy is getting to be a Big boy. Can't wait to see him once he looses the pancake bod and fills out. Same as GSD's with the 2-3 year fill out. I love Captain Cooper and am happy Sam helped him and they are Bud's now.

    ETA: I didn't miss them! :D Was going to post earlier but I had errands to run.
