Sounds like you are having tons of fun with your e-bikes. Way to go!
Shiny folk, this is all off topic, so cruise on by if looking for vape stuff. TY
So my trips up into the north woods... The gal up there is a longtime friend of ours. We all used to hang around from our young days on. And we all went to the same elementary and high schools together. Funny but true, she was one of my early girlfriends. Lol. It was her, my wife and another gal (also one of my early girlfriends, she breeds and trains GSD's). We were the 4 amigo's and did nearly everything together.
Anyhow, the gal up north got into horse training at a young age and is really good at it. Very kind and compassionate in her ways. She has taken so-called trouble horses, that otherwise would have been put down, and brought them out of their shells. Uses only bitless bridles as they are far more humane and much easier on a horse. I call her a horse whisperer but she hates that name with a passion. She hauls off and smacks me whenever I call her that. Lol. In addition to training she boards some horses. Her business is all word of mouth. She is also an artist and a musician.
The wife and I used to go up to her place to help out and ride several times a year. Since I lost my wife the Dog, Cat and I still head there a few times each year. It's pretty secluded. No city in the near. No traffic, no air traffic and no people - perfect. I love horses and had an uncle who trained them. Learned to ride as a youngster. Both bareback and on a saddle. Can't do bareback anymore.
Most of my time on this last trip was spent helping with the never ending chores. We rode a couple times each day. Totally awesome. On clear nights up that way you can see like zillions of stars and constellations. I can't see but a few in the city with all the dumb lights. There were a few nights that we put out some hay, as like a lounger, put some blankets over that and laid out all night just watching the stars and taking in the many sounds of nature. Very nice and super relaxing.
@Pigs would love bringing his Pro Tools mobile kit and professionally recording all the different morning and evening sounds. Some directional and ambient mics would work miracles.
On one of our early morning rides she stopped and looked ahead somewhere in the distance. She pulled up her binoculars and whispered "wolves". Handed me the binoculars and sure enough I managed to catch a fleeting glimpse of a pack. They were difficult to see but you could make them out. That was a very special treat. Wolves are very smart and super stealthy. If they don't want to be seen or heard, you will not know they are around. There are also black bears up there. Even a small cougar population though rarely ever seen by people. You need decent trail cams and know where to place them to catch those.
As far as any recent times pics, nope. I haven't taken any up there since I used to have a 35mm camera. I do have photos in a box somewhere in my house. The last time I was up there I lost my smartphone. Found it two days later in the yard. Ever since then I just leave it on a table at the house when I go out. My carriers cell reception is spotty to horrible.
It's just her, her two daughters and one of their BF's who run the place. The older one is really good with training horses. So, she wants me to come back up for the rest of the summer. I would love to but I do have a home and need to find someone to do the yard work and stuff. We've talked about me selling, or renting, my house and moving up there. But I've had this home for just over 30 years, and yeah, memories and all that jazz. If it wasn't for that I would have been living there already. So IDK, we'll see.
