My local stopped doing TNR because the feral colonies were exploding. They are trying to be as low-kill as possible, so they came up with barn cat adoptions. If you have property and shelter for the cat, and provide food and water, you can adopt them for pest control. In a perfect world, they’d all have a cozy home with someone like Sue, but as that’s not possible this isn’t a terrible solution.
I am fighting with my commissioners currently because they stopped paying for TNR. They stopped in June. My friend and I had TNR'd 61 cats March-May. We both agreed to spend our last stimulus check on it.
They stopped for 'budgeting reasons"
I am pretty mad as I pay a lot of taxes and if I can spend my own money to do it, the county can spend some tax dollars too. Besides, when ignored it multiplies fast.

barn homes are great options for ferals and they do that here too. The barn homes are slim compared to the amount of cats that need a home/job as a mouser

This is such good news! I'm glad.
Zazie, his glucose numbers go up and down and I have to ..... his ear about 5 times a day to test him. Insulin shots twice a day and now another diagnosis of Chronic Kidney disease but only stage 2 which is miles from being in danger. BUT he is eating good, and seems happy. He still sleeps with me at night and is loving taunting Daphne again (a sure sign that he feels alright). He can only eat low carb and low phosphorus food and he takes a b-12 vitamin now to keep his red blood cells up. There is no cure for his illnesses so we will manage them as well as we can and he will continue to live his best life.

they will not get away with it for long. They are elected officials and if I have to canvas door to door to get people to write in and complain, I will.

Joe is doing good T and I will tell him you asked. He is feeling so good we walked yesterday and he got to swat at a dog that dared to come too close to him. He has gained almost one pound in 4 weeks

But as I like to joke that it’s still 1950 in Ohio
Isn't it funny how not so long ago that would have been a criticism of a place, whereas now it's the ultimate accolade. Says a lot about the state of the world.

The big buckles! Awesome! I have a pair of the clogs and two of the sandals. They’re so cute.
Yes! I fell in love with the style of the big buckle of this year. I have another pair in Mocha, the Mayari. I had an old pair of the Arizona's in brown that I just threw away. Old and frayed.

Perfect! He is kinda aloof, kinda cool and just a general bad azz. As much as he loves me, he will only handle so much closeness from me. I laid down next to him on the floor the other day and he looked at me, got up and moved over two feet and laid back down. I am never allowed to fuss over him, even when he is sick

Since you can't have a frosty day and a new white mod, without taking a photo:

If anyone's on the fence with getting this mod - here's my thoughts on it:

Handfeel is brilliant, whether you thumb or finger fire. It's lightweight, but still feels solid and sturdy. Battery life is hard to tell, as it's barely left my hand. But it does seem on par with my Mixxes, and it fires just as fast too.

I'd happily buy another one, even without the F0 technology. As for F0 mode - I absolutely love it. It's such a simple idea to use AC power instead of DC, and I'm glad Innokin came up with it.

I'm definitely going to need some more z80s :D

Are they in the same family as cockatiels?
I see that @Doffy has answered that on the money.

I know people all over the world keep Australian parrots of various types in cages - the cockatiel a case in point - but if they ever saw them in the wild they may re-think that. These birds need large social groups to thrive and travel great distances in their natural state. To keep a bird like that in a cage or even "free" in an indoor setting (usually with wings clipped) is cruel.
Budgies are another great example. They are also parrots native to inland Australia. I've been lucky enough to see vast clouds of them in the outback.
Just last Easter I was sitting quietly alone in favourite spot in far NW NSW (very remote - nearest neighbour about 30KM away), when a small family group of about 50 budgies buzzed down and had a drink at the gilgai (watering hole) not twenty feet away. I sat perfectly still in the shade and watched them drink and noisily socialise. Colourful, clever, busy and beautiful.
Galahs live in large groups too and once they mate, like many birds they keep the same partner for life. In their case as long as 80 years. More than once I've seen the sad sight of one of a pair sitting at the side of its road-killed partner, gently nudging and cajoling the lifeless body.

Sulfur-crested cockatoos have a very large brain size/body mass ratio and are renowned for their intelligence and sense of fun. Watching a group of cockies swing upside down off the power lines, clowning around and playing chicken with passing cars, never gets boring. These are smart, problem-solving animals that should never be kept as pets for the pleasure of their human owner.

Doesn't matter if they are bred in captivity, the practice is barbaric.

There's always the Zenith II tank instead, since you already have the 0.3ohm z-coils. It has so much more airflow than a Zlide/OG Zenith. And even with one of my fat DTs on it, I can still access and use the fill port easily.
