I was mainly referring to the material of the surface with the defect. If we had a pic and maybe a good guess as to what that material is (laquer, powder coat, bare metal) we could maybe work out how to treat it properly. You don't wanna end up with a thing that looks completely hoopajooped.
He sanded off the paint and simply polished it, no finish.

 that could be bad, if the mod is made out of different metals they will start looking very different in a few days. Most zinc alloys develop a black powdery oxide coating that will rub off on your hands like pencil, accelerated by sweat. Aluminium should be fine, if there's zinc alloy it's likely to need a finish.

I have a topic for discussion.
Anybody have any of the new pod systems, or have opinions on certain ones?
A lot if new models out.
With the nic salts being used now alot if folks are getting satisfaction from them.
I may be interested in one just for stealth vaping to get my nic fix when I can't blow clouds lol.

I think I would prefer a refillable, but....

Thoughts?
I was given a Sourin Drop to try out. Had it for about a week and was really impressed. Very thin and shirt pocket friendly, good flavor and dependable.

I was told the body is aluminum and the door is a zinc alloy. To me it's metal.
I think it's all zinc alloy as the body and door have a very similar look, feel and sound if struck. They both polish exactly the same and will tarnish if left uncoated.

But, I not well versed in the dark arts of making shiny metal things. :(

With a dremel and polishing wheels and the black oxide compound bar then the white compound bar to finish aluminum and zinc can be polished nicely.
Here is mod with zinc c-frame thats well used but reliable thinking of taking off c-frame and polishing it one day when bored.
Picture showing whats under the black finish which would come off in process.
Around the window have a habit of rubbing it with my thumb when holding it so the wear through the black finish.

Ok depending on the model the most simplistic approach on most would be
In ecf click upload file
Then choose file
Then mine pops up with capture image.
If you do that you should be able to post it right then.

I take pics then go to photos and crop them but that's another post lol.

If you see the option I mentioned for capture image you can select documents then photo/gallery and upload old pics.

But as I mentioned depends in the model and the version of android.

Give it a shot and let us know how it goes, or ask questions. We are here for you.

I'm no metallurgionologist either but I know there's a number of different zinc alloys for casting and they're different in how they oxidize. The more expensive ones can be polished and stay shiny for longer, the cheap ones that are meant to be coated anyways get dull quickly and will react to the acids that squeeze out of your skin.
Our mods are usually made out of the cheap ones, part of why the more expensive ones cost more is that the molds can't be reused all too many times and have to be remade, not something you want when you bang out mods in bigger numbers.

What I would try first, before using any abrasive methods, is putting the door into a bath with hot water and baking soda. If that doesn't get rid of the tarnish you'd need to start looking for very fine polishing paste (like eg chromium oxide based).

If it's a lower grade zinc alloy you'd either have to contend with it not being shiny, polish it from time to time or polish it and put eg a clear powder coating over it.

It's not on the door, the mark is on the body of the Slice. I will bookmark this page. Useful info, thank you.

If it were mine. I'd hit it with the superfine steel wool and buff again with a big wheel or mushroom buff.

I find those little Dremel pads create more work on a big area than they actually polish. But again, I is not versed in the dark arts of the buff and polish either. :(
