Gotcha. So much fun - we had a creek under a local foot bridge near us when we were kids. We called it The Frog Place. These days most kids can't take their faces away from their screens long enough to bother exploring. Makes me sad to think how much they miss.
I've got a frog pond in my back yard so when my boy was about 7 or 8, I set up a couple of aquariums at his local school and we filled them with eggs. We put them in a corridor outside the classrooms so the kids could watch the whole life cycle. Was so cool to see them crowding around the
tanks and yelping with excitement when they spotted the first little wriggly tadpoles, and later the first back legs poking through, and soon enough the little froglets taking shape.
We taught them how to feed the tadpoles small amounts of lettuce, and later live crickets. I introduced some little water snails to keep the glass clean and a couple of freshwater muscles to help filter the water.
