Not to be argumentative Uncle, but the microbes living in yogurt aren't adapted to survive in the gut. They don't last long in that environtment ...pH and acids quickly destroy them. The microbes that thrive inside...and on us, comes from other sources.
There's are literally tens of trillions of microbes living in and on us...multitudes of species. We don't realize it, but we actually exist to house microbes. Microbes are the rulers of everything on earth. Without them there won't be any life....they are one of the building blocks of life. There's different eco systems of microbes in our noses, ears, skin, gut and intestines etc.
When we use broad spectrum antibiotics, that microbe diversity is radically disturbed...some (but not all) is killed off. Similar to what happens in nature when animal species are taken out, then happens inside..and on us. The balance is disturbed and our general health suffers for it.
I don't take it as argumentative at all. And - I personally appreciate your point of view and the information you provided. My source was based on what one of my doctors suggested I do after a very strong run of antibiotics. As always, being better informed is much better then not knowing. Thanks for the information. . .
