Not to be argumentative Uncle, but the microbes living in yogurt aren't adapted to survive in the gut. They don't last long in that environtment ...pH and acids quickly destroy them. The microbes that thrive inside...and on us, comes from other sources.
There's are literally tens of trillions of microbes living in and on us...multitudes of species. We don't realize it, but we actually exist to house microbes. Microbes are the rulers of everything on earth. Without them there won't be any life....they are one of the building blocks of life. There's different eco systems of microbes in our noses, ears, skin, gut and intestines etc.
When we use broad spectrum antibiotics, that microbe diversity is radically disturbed...some (but not all) is killed off. Similar to what happens in nature when animal species are taken out, then happens inside..and on us. The balance is disturbed and our general health suffers for it.

I don't take it as argumentative at all. And - I personally appreciate your point of view and the information you provided. My source was based on what one of my doctors suggested I do after a very strong run of antibiotics. As always, being better informed is much better then not knowing. Thanks for the information. . . Just Sayin. . .

Good to hear Sir.
I've changed my outlook on our Western doctors when my wife was diagnosed with osteoarthritis. Her being a pharmacist (that stopped practicing some 15years ago) said to me..."I'm not going down that route of taking a hand ful of pills". She saw over all the years the drugs don't cure...it only manage and leave you with aftereffects, that eventually leads to other medicines.
She was cured by a woman that does functional natural medicine.
The right foods and some suppliments (that her specific body needs) is all what was needed to cure her. This clinic..

I actually knew that and started eating a Greek yogurt each day. I think it’s helping.
Really best thing you can do is probiotics and a really varied diet with lots of fruit and vegetables. I have a vegetable smoothie every morning.....kale, carrot, apple, beetroot raw, banana, sunflower seeds, almonds and almond milk. All whizzed up in a nutri bullet!

I'm glad your wife found some relief, OA is a bad deal, my wife is trying another supplement now and hoping it will help. She's been using a walker and wheelchair when we go out for a while now.:(

Ah i'm sorry to hear my friend. It's a debilitating desease for sure. The wife gradually deteriorated...so much so she could hardly walk up the stairs at her work. She was in constant pain. But that's all in the past now. She's completely healed and a new person. She now glides up that stairs again.
It's the inflammation from the OA that causes the pain and immobility. The inflammation is mostly caused by the foods we eat...carbohydrates and sugars primarily.
As Charlie mentioned above a varied diet of good vegetables is essential to a healthy body.
As soon as the wife starts deviating and eats the wrong foods, the pains gradually starts up again.
I learnt something valuable with the wife's journey...
We are what we eat !!!
Food is our best medicine. It can either make us sick, or keep us healthy !!!

That's the absolute best way to get a healthy and balanced gut biome. Nature knows best.....and it happens by itself...naturally. As soon as we eat the right foods, the right microbes starts colonizing and create a balanced eco system inside our bodies.

I recently read a really scary but interesting article that touched on this. About nutrition and the health of the gut biome.
I was looking for information about cultivating good gut health for better cell energy. I’ll condense as best I can...

Why they say to eat the rainbow is not as simple as the way they explain to us, one thing has more of one vitamin, another has a different nutrient. That’s part of it, but the diversity of the microbes is far more important. And (this was the scary part imho) it applies to more than just food.

The more we are exposed to, the grater the microbial diversity we encounter and collect.

You know those detective shows where they nab the killer because he had seeds in his shoe that come from a certain tree that only grows on the West Bank of a certain lake and blooms for two weeks in June? We are a walking catalog of forensic evidence of every place we’ve been, but we don’t really have the tech to understand it all yet.

So it’s a lot more complicated than whether the cultures survive being eaten. You’re exposing yourself to that yogurt’s entire lifespan.

I think ‘fire your MD’ is the wrong answer. There is much a doctor is needed for. My opinion is there are a lot of things that meds don’t work for, but many they do. The trick is to know the difference. And find a doctor willing to work with that.
I’ve had a terrible year with my fibromyalgia and finally called my doctor. He’s 91, no kidding.
He asked a lot of questions about my lifestyle, activity, diet, etc and recommended a bunch of supplements and small changes I can make.
No drugs. No tests. Because he knows they don’t really work for this. For other problems you need medical intervention. Some doctors always resort to that because that’s what they’re taught, that’s what patients demand.

I do agree that there's a time for the doc and a time for the things already described. If you think about it nearly all disease is caused by inflammation in the body.

Auto-immune diseases are of a particular type though that have skyrocketed in the last 50years or so and they are almost certainly down to what we eat...or rather what we don't eat. You are right however that our gut biome is formulated from the first day we are born scrabbling around in the mud and eating it; to walking in nature and all the things we come into contact with.

I'm sorry about the fibromyalgia...my mum's friend has it and I know it's painful. Hopefully you can reduce or eliminate the problem by all the above mentioned things....I'm certainly glad that you're not popping pills for it all the time

    Morning shinies ;)

What brand is that Charlie? Looks like it's nice quality.

Seconded! I need one that says 'you plonker!' when you've added a few too many drops in. Again. For the same mix.

But, out of all my mixing mishaps - I've only had a couple that ended up unvapable. So far...

With me, it's Michael's or Hobby Lobby and beads. I make rosaries and I could spend hours there just putting together bead combinations in my head. I rarely buy them there, because at their prices, I can't sell them cheap enough to turn a profit. I usually buy from Ebay or Alibaba.
with me it is both. Lately I have been going to the bead shows as you can get real minerals and gemstones at the shows on the cheap.

Oh boy that brings back wonderful memories. It has a sweet/sour/tart taste.
We stuffed ourselves as kids every summer. The young boys pick them and sell them by the bags to the people in cars waiting at the traffic light. It's a culture over there mate.
Not much to eat on the fruit though....has a big pip and tough thick skin. You tear the skin open with the teeth and suck on the pulp. During summer time the streets (mostly in the bushveld towns) are littered with empty marula skins....:D
Can be very tart/sour when not ripe enough :w00t:. But when it's properly ripe...it takes you on a journey mate
Thank you!!! Wish we would get them here. I've looked online but so far no luck.

I did a knuckle test with the INW Marula and did get a pleasant sweet/sour/tart taste. So I have high hopes for this flavor.

My BIL (a surgeon) tells me that Fibro is a symptom if inflammation somewhere else in your body. cure that inflammation and the Fibro goes away are his words
