Me, I think lawns are dumb.

A really nice lawn requires a lot of pesticide and fertilizer here in NW Arkansas. When I left Florida there was talk about banning them due to runoff and polluting the waterways. They were being blamed for the increasing frequency of algae blooms and growing time frame of red tide.

No lions, tigers or bears, but loads of trash pandas, pole cats, and grinners.

Trash pandas = racoons?
Pole cats = skunks.
Grinners = ?? even the urban dictionary didn't help with that, and what it does say can't be repeated in polite company.

My wife tried peeling potatoes in the sink once and plugged the disposal. I had to take it off. What a mess!
LOL first time I seen a insinkerator was when I came to NZ. Africa don't do those...:D
I quickly leant how to strip and clean it...did that multiple times
Lately much has changed in this house hold and it is on very light duty...just about everything goes into the compost.

My mother has one. She loved it when she could still mow. Now my sister does.

Our yards are a little over a half acre. His lawn mower only cuts a 16" swath... It takes him about 2 hours to cut it, and that's only if he charged it well. I think it's one of the cheap models.

I made it into the urban dictionary.

Man I used to feed and spray ferociously....:-x
Best way to keep a lawn healthy is to now without the catcher....just spread the mowed clippings so it's evenly thick on top of the grass. The clippings breaks down and feeds the grass...and the microbes that keeps the pathogens in check.
;)
Nature knows best. Once we start spraying stuff and add to much fertilizer we disrupt the balance down there. Grass is the toughest plants...they're born survivers...nature's settlers...don't need any addition feeding.

And some people want to be the first one on the block with solar panels.

I have recently seen an uptick of negativity towards solar panels in a discussion group I am in. I am totally ignorant on the subject and still trying to figure out the pros and cons. I have read some horror stories concerning leans against property, loans, and dissatisfied customers.

I want a windmill in my yard. One of those big ones too.. Less grass to mow.

So true! I have one of those Honda mulching mowers and do the same. Certain times of the year I'll get an outbreak of weeds, but winter time always clears it all up.

One of the biggest drawbacks of home alt energy is unrealistic expectations. A modestly sized solar array just isn't going to power a whole home. The investment in panels and ancillary equipment makes the payback questionable in my opinion. That might explain the horror stories.

(up on the soapbox again) The biggest lie of the green future is that we will be able to maintain our current extravagant lifestyles on renewables only. It's only viable if we cut our consumption of energy way down. They won't tell us that because the support would evaporate.

Wassup EveryShinyOne???

Carli dog, Angel cat and I split the city over a week ago and headed up to the Northwoods to visit my gal friend and her daughters. We're getting a good amount of snow today. :thumb: There's probably 10+ inches on the ground with more on the way. We went snowmobiling earlier. Temps gonna drop below 0F, -17.7C, over the next couple dayz. I love it!

I might stay here at her place over the holidays, not sure yet.

Hope y'all are good and well.

I don't think Jeffrey Dahmer used a garbage disposal either. Sometimes folks like to make a difference in this world. It's commendable...
He lived about a mile from our old house. Dahmer liked to keep "things" in his fridge.

Hmmm, my state also was the home of Ed Gein. See Inside The Real-Life House Of Horrors That Inspired 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'

He made some "things" too. 10 Gruesome Items Ed Gein Made From Corpses - Listverse

He was the inspiration for the villains of several horror films, including Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs, and Norman Bates in Psycho.

Reminds me of the farmer that wanted to remove one of his windmills...don't have enough wind for two he said

Probably an opossum, gnarly smile on them dudes.
I trapped 3 possums in my yard the last two weeks. Don't like doing it, but they're a pest in this country. As the wife says... "It's not their fault"
