    Somewhere between here and there
    Salutations my fellow vaperinos :)

Pop in to say hi and check with y'all.

Haven't had much time off lately, been working on a translating job for a Boat/Yacht (new and used) company that has their headquarters in Cartagena (south east of Spain).
Long and tedious since i have ZERO knowledge of stuff pertaining nautical terms, will probably be done in a couple of days and then i have to proofread the whole thing.

Apart from that well as usual It's been slow in the shiny department, good news is i am only 150 euros short of my last item (GPU) for my pc upgrade,so come the end of the month I'll have it all up and running.

vaping wise i need some help, folks know of any recent releases when it comes to single coil/top airflow RTA that are worth the buy?

Just asking because my friend over at the vape chain shop from Seville gave me a ring today, since he knows i have been using my Kylin Mini V2 almost exclusively for awhile now he told me they just had one left.

To be honest the Kylin Mini V2 doesn't have as much flavor as my Lethal RTA (boxed away since i never got the wicking right) but the lack of leaking and easiness when it comes to wicking makes up for it in spades.

Told my friend that until next month i won't have any cash but he said no problem and that if i were interested he would save it for me.
Looked around in Spain and only a couple stores still have one or two for sale but in all the rest of the stores they are out of stock and not bringing anymore, just seems like a smart move to have a spare one since this atty has been my daily RTA for a while now.

Well anyway, hope you all doing good :)

I’m not sure what you think of rdtas but the Hellvape Helheim has fantastic flavor with a single coil.

You got me beat by ALOT! I think I have 4 maybe 5. But if you ever want to find a new home for a couple of them then please let me know! Lol!

I thought I was one of the few that bought LOTS of the same item but you are the leader for sure!

I bought a bunch of the Augvape merlins back in the day too but every one seeped a little but the flavor was good. Somewhere in storage too is a bunch of the original Uwell tanks that you could put an rba in.

I have a favorite single coil top airflow but it comes with a few little issues. But in all my years I have to say nothing beats the flavor and density of the vape. At $25 bucks the price is right. Cabeo stainless version from FT. I have 4 SS and one black but the black is a bit hard to see when refilling. I am considering buying the original version with the slightly taller tank (that will cost more than the 5 clones I have).
    Here are the cons:
It can/will leak if on it's side. Big pet peeve of mine.
Can really only dry burn the coil.
Mounting the coil takes precision to fit between the airflow attachment. Easy with 2.5mm coils but not as easy with a 3mm coil.
For some reason they ship without one of the clear tank orings in place. It can leak without it but at least I figured that out.
With it's weaknesses I thought it would just be my home vape but it is so much better than my next best atty that I am just careful carrying it upright. I have a couple of mtl top airflows I use but the rest are pretty much sitting idle.
I have cleaned and stored a lot of other attys that cost more but can't come close to the vape of the Cabeo IMO. It just keeps the wick very, very saturated.
The cabeo broke me from my long string of mesh top airlow attys. I went back and tried a few times but the flavor is just not the same.

I don't have the first Merlin but I have the Merlin Mini from mid 2016. Just searched and I found it. Also great flavour but leaky.
I'd forgotten, but they came with a single coil deck and a dual coil (velocity style) deck.

If it hadn’t been for the leaking I would probably still be using one.

Thanks bud, yeah can't wait to get my pc situation all done.

About the Cabeo yeah i looked into that one a while back, watched a ton of Youtube videos and read some reviews.
At the end i decided it was a hard pass for me,the filling system well not really a fan and the RDTA setup just doesn't work for me.
I need a clear tank i can see in its entirety,i know it's got good reviews but i got like a 6th sense when it comes to this, will probably just end up getting another Kylin Mini V2.
Got proficient at the wicking and now I'm doing it in auto mode while watching some Youtube videos, love that top airflow RTA just don't leak, less hassle and stress for me even if i have to sacrifice a bit of flavor.

Shiny wise not much, did get some e-liquid and coils delivered today.
Decided to splurge on the coils and got some made here in Spain:

Aliens PIKARONAS HIGH VOLTAGE (Squonker edition) By Pajocoils | SINHUMO SEVILLA

    2x26AWG N80 / 40AWG N80 5 wraps,2.5 mm and coming out in single to about 30/32 ohms...
And wow!!!! these are good coils, nice and tasty vape, these are going to be my main coils for a while.

E-Liquid wise i went outside of the box and got me a weird mix,as of late i have been vaping my usual Shiva aroma from A&L and adding 10mls of Red Bull flavor.
But the other day my pharmacist offered me some gum, like the old school strawberry type like Boomer or Bobaloo.
So it got me thinking, hey maybe this along with my Shiva won't be bad so i got 10mls to add to my Shiva and Red Bull mix. (30mls Shiva,10mls Red Bull and 10mls of Bubblegum)

Mixed it up and decided to give it a try and oh man is it good,i know it sounds like an odd mix but hey it works for me.

Well I'm off still have like 25 pages left of translating to do...awful job but i need to get it done so i can get my pc together so hey it is what it is.

Folks have a nice day :)

Nice looking coils. I guess I'm a cheapskate. That seems expensive for two coils.

Yeh i know but I have been saving for months now for my pc without spending any money on me so on whim i just decided to splurge a little.
Normally i just get the coils from my friends local vape shop, cost like 8 euros for a box of 2,performance wise these that i got are much better.

Nothing wrong with treating yourself. About the only coils I buy instead of making are some geekvape ones that come eight in a pack for around $4. Other than that I just wind my own but they aren't as fancy as the ones you bought.

In my case i use less coils since i am basically using just the one atty a day,if i had many in rotation i would have to use a lot of coils but just with one atty in ''rotation'' they do last quite a bit.

Did get like 4 boxes of these a while back:

    https://www.fasttech.com/p/9640534

I've used some of them, mostly for reviews and such, not perfect but not bad either.
a while back someone gave me some spools of wire but after a couple of times trying to get it done i gave up,i am severely lacking in the dexterity department hehe.

Back to @Hightech Redneck's smoke detector meltdown :w00t:
what is the best type of detector to get, that won't get set off so easily by vaping?

Mine's had no battery in it for the last year or so, as I got sick of it going off with my puny clouds.

I have set off mine in my house (it is hardwired so I have to call quickly or the fire department comes right away), hotels, you name it.
I have a nice vornado fan in my bedroom on a timer angled to the ceiling so it disperses the vapor. My other rooms are large enough to not be a problem except the upstairs bedroom I do all of my fly tying. I haven't figured out a way to vape in that room.
A temp way is to put a shower cap over it....don't do this permanently as it could endanger you in case of a real fire.

If my memory serves its ionization smokes you want not photoelectric.
Photoelectric are what alarm companies use, basically a laser that when obstructed by smoke it goes off. The drawback is any obstruction will trigger it, like steam if near the bathroom or vapor.

However most electrical are the other type and mine still went off.

My alarm smoke is about 8 foot outside of my den and it went off lmao.

So to answer your question, uh um get a heat not smoke detector? They pick up rapid rises in temp or if it reaches like 120 degrees f.
Thats what is in most kitchen, furnace and electrical rooms.

I just keep ceiling fans etc on so the the vapor thins.

In the instance i set everything off a certain someone cut the ceiling fan off to clean it while i was at work. Yeah i could have cut it on but its not my fault...
Lol, there was ALOT of vapor......

Brilliant thank you! I'll try an ionization one first. I'm in a tiny house 5m x 6m with an exposed peaked high ceiling. Which makes it a PITA to play whack the alarm with a broom

A few months ago I went outside my comfort box and bought a bunch of Wotofo and Vandy Vape Ni80 premade coils.
Up until then I’ve been mainly using SS316L premade and homemade as well.

I’ve got to say that I’m really enjoying a very clean vape and a quick firing up. I’m not sur where on the firing up scale NI80 ranks but it feels faster than the SS using the same coil configuration. I know I’ve seen that somewhere but I’m not in the mood to research because it really doesn’t matter. What matters is that it feels like a fast ramp up.

They are also pretty sturdy and can take some vigorous cleaning with a metal coil brush to extend their life span.

The only problem would be that it’s not suitable for TC or “Replay” but I’ve been doing the simple Power or Watts mode lately. If I want to use TC on a certain mod, I have tons of premade SS316Ls from both AVS and Lightening Vapes before they changed their names and stock so plenty of this too.

I started out with making all my own coils from single wire to simple Clapton wire. They’re so easy to make. Most of my premade coils are some form of Clapton. I try to not get too exotic because that causes a longer ramp up time imo. And it’s annoying to me.

I’ve also used Kanthal but the taste is disgusting to me lol! So my go to setups are either Ni80 or SS316L of some type of Clapton wire - Alien, Fused, etc….

Speaking of flavor is only use rayon. The few times I used some type of organic cotton I couldn’t get the taste out of my mouth for hours  ! Lol!

What have you been using lately? And has it changed much over your vaping career?
