@Tor R, I just had a long conversation with my computer technician.
He told me the opposite of the information I posted recently - I was wrong.
For storing important data, platter drives (HDDs) are more reliable than SSDs, not less.
So you made the right choice buying HDDs for data storage.
Next time I post info like that I'll do some more serious fact checking.![]()
I've been pricing up some ram to double up what Mum has in her older laptop. It wasn't until I saw you guys talking HDDs and SSDs that I double checked her laptop. I had presumed it already was using an SSD drive, but no it had an old HDD in it. So thank you!
I've now got ram (non baaaaing), and an SSD incoming to play swapsies with.
