Are there bees in nature that you think of Sara?

Unfortunately I don't know much about bees, the only experience I had was when a swarm moved into an opening near one of the windows.
Borrowed beekeeper suit, cow bone, a can of poison in one hand, off with the window water table and the swarm came lol never thought it would end.

What an incredible animal.
Dies to protect the colony without hesitation. Navigation systems Google would murder for and never an argument between individuals in achieving an aim.
Without bees, most of the world's agriculture would be dust. Honey a bonus for us.
We'll probably appreciate pthem when they're gone.

I recently read an article about how honey bees are not in fact in danger; it's all the other bees and pollinators who are at risk. Sadly and ironically, the push to save the honey bee over the last decade or so has hurt these other critters. More, while people have rushed to set up hive after hive, they've neglected to ensure there is sufficient pollen to support them.

On top of all this, most honey bees are agricultural commodities, maintained as artificially and unsustainably as many another form of livestock. The colony collapses that struck fear into the hearts of bee lovers are largely due to the missteps of the humans in charge of these factory apiaries

It was an interesting read.

We've got major problems here. For decades the Varroa mite was kept out but recently a small infestation was found on the east coast which lead to mandatory destruction of many thousands of hives. They thought they'd got it but it was all too late. Now the authorities have abandoned attempts to eradicate the parasite and have gone into a management phase instead.

Couple of days ago I watched a doco about the Californian almond industry and their reliance on bees. Big business - leading to organised crime getting involved.

Morning shinies ;)

Anyone tried bp mods cotton? It's the first cotton I've tried in a while that actually had a break-in taste. Or maybe it just tastes funky to me. Or more specifically, I am having a bad taste day.
I've got a jar that's sitting in a cupbard barely used. I tried it once and had the same experience

Good morning shiny people. I’ve got two reviews that I’ve already written but need to post this week for the new Drag pod mods. I got the samples late and the package was pretty beat up. Looked like the delivery person dragged it behind the truck. I’ve been trying to contact the rep about it with no luck so I’ll post my reviews as is.

How do you feel about John Oliver's campaign to sway the upcoming Bird of the Century contest in favor of the pūteketeke, @AngeNZ?

    One word: grandstanding.

And out of them all, I struggle to pick only one favourite. I have at least ten!

I thought it might rub you the wrong way a tad bit. Still, I suppose it might do some good somehow, maybe get people to donate money to conservation efforts or something.

I would be hard-pressed to choose a favorite myself. I have a sentimental attachment to the fantail, because I found them magical flitting about the lemon tree in our front yard when we lived there. And keas amuse me, with their wicked ways (and I see they're in trouble). Kakapos are delightful. But I love them all, really.

Imagne what your birds were like before the mammals arrived. It must have been spectacular.

Job done for now. It's gaudy but fun. I'll be tinkering with the look for a while no doubt
