I was just watching the news. Looks like our government is trying to bring in legislation for a full ban on vaping here. To be debated in parliament next week. Prohibition.
That would mean even the current tough prescription laws would be scrapped.
According to the gov mouthpiece I just watched, "everyone knows that vapes contain formaldehyde, weed killer and other harmful chemicals. Why would we let this continue?"
Ads have appeared on SBS- one of the two government funded TV stations, and their online streaming service, that offer help to depicted downtrodden indigenous teens whose lives have been ruined by vaping. (or they could go and buy a pack of the world's most expensive cigarettes at any local store, most of the retail price of which is made up of taxes)
I nearly threw a brick at the screen.
Norway is following the same path as Australia, the politicians are promoting the Australian solution, as is the Department of Health.
Flavor ban enters July 1, 2024, next up for consultation is packaging that will be brown (I myself like the retro brown color that they prefer), and making all nicotine products illegal to buy online, (this of course also applies to nicotine-free products such as vape may be).
If you are an elderly sick person who gets food delivered to your doorstep, it is therefore illegal to have nicotine products in the delivery as it is illegal to buy online.
It must be said that minors get hold of the products online, therefore the rest of the population must be punished because it removes the burden on the customs authorities, so they say.
