For me as a wattage only vaper, the two main advantages of a mod with a dna chip are the ability to get replacement parts if the board dies, and the ability to tweak and monitor the vape in escribe.

With my lipo dna mods (delro clones) I like being able to adjust screen brightness and display time to get the most out of the little 2200 mAh batteries. When I discovered this, it made a noticeable difference to the practicality of these mods.

I agree that there are plenty of devices out there that cost way less than those with DNA boards and vape just as well for most people. The mark up for DNA versions of a mod with two options is often not worth it..
I got a couple of BB's some time back. DNA was an option. There was another factor there apart from any superiority of the chip. Apparently the DNA board was coated to protect it from juice leaks. That was a case where the choice was clear, though it had nothing to do with the chip itself. If the other chip had been coated and the DNA not coated then I would have gone the other way.

I haven’t gone down the boro rabbit hole and I’m hoping that I don’t lol! I’ve been down enough vape holes as my bank account shows! But can someone tell me why they are popular and the pros and cons of them.

Thanks

Well, there's the coolness factor.

You can install lots of different innards, but you can put lots of different tanks on a regular mod. In my experience they take longer to rewick and recoil than most tanks. And I haven't experienced a better vape than tank/mod setups.

If you like to tinker with your gear they are definitely a winner. You can replace the panels and buttons. Then you can go deeper with paint jobs and new chips and everything else.

I got two BB's and use them all the time. I think it's mainly just because I like variety. Vaping would be a lot less fun if I just had a row of KFL's on Picos. It's a bit like motorcycles. Some folks are happy with a stock machine, others like to customise their ride. BB's are great for that.

I like the size and feel of boro mods.
One of the selling points for Billet Boxes (the original boro mod) from the start was their toughness- they are designed to protect the tank and electronics from bumps and knocks while fitting comfortably in a pocket.
You can lie them on their side or upright, doesn't matter.
Great if you like rdl or mtl, not for clouds.

    Morning shinies ;)

Great thing about vaping is that there are so many different ways to vape and so many choices of mods that everyone can find their own niche

Exactly. And on a daily basis I use a real mishmash of RTAs/mods, AIO/RBAs, RDAs/squonk mods, AIO/GTX coils and the odd pod device.

I’m no boro expert but it’s been my experience that the rebuildable ones sooner or later will seep some liquid or condensation will build up on the back side of the panels. I’ve had better luck using drop in coil boro tanks and have some adapters for the nautilus 2s coils and some for gtx coils. On the positive side they are usually pretty durable and the tank is protected inside so you don’t have to worry about tank glass breaking. Most I’ve tried are pretty compact and comfortable to use.

Appreciate your thoughts and experiences with them. Since I rarely use a tank or anything with glass except the occasional RDTA , I’ll stick with my RDAs and squonkers. God knows how much I love my Topsides & LV Centaurus squonkers and wide open RDAs with a variety of incredible flavors and satisfying dense clouds.

I was just curious about what and why people like them so much. Now my curiosity has been satiated lol!

The biggest con is that it is difficult to construct an airflow system that is as smooth as an RTA has.

In my book nothing beats a sbs with rta.

Hey everyone I hope you’ve all had a good day!

Any shiny vape mail to tell us about???

Some of you are slacking off lol :) !! Get those credit cards going!!!

I couldn’t agree with you more. When I got into box mods all I wanted was DNA devices and I’d play around with Escribe.

The more time went on and the more non DNA mods I was using I realized for myself that I really couldn’t tell the difference between a DNA mod and a chip from a “reputable” mod. Especially the Omni chips that Vaporesso was making at the time their Revenger series came out.

I will say though that I was really into temp control at the time and the DNA chip worked great but so didn’t the Yihi and Vaporesso chips.

I no longer temp control. I have a consistent vape as it is now. I know exactly when I need more juice and my wick is starting to dry out just by the vape. I think most long term vapers can tell that a dry hit may be near.

I’ve been fortunate because all the DNA devices I have have all been of great quality. However, I really take great care of my gear and I usually have 8-10 mods in rotation so that keeps one mod from getting used too often. If that makes sense.

I bought the Riva several months ago but not the DNA one which was close to if not more than $100 more than the standard Riva.

I’m sure that if I didn’t know which mod had which chip then I probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

I still love my DNA mods but not so much that it’s about the chip but about the overall design and quality that I find in those mods. This is obviously just my observation of my own vaping.

Great thing about vaping is that there are so many different ways to vape and so many choices of mods that everyone can find their own niche.

I hope that made sense. Im a bit tired today.
My card is ready, the lists are ready, the problem is that what I'm going to buy hasn't arrived in the shops yet.
Is around 3 months waiting time, and unfortunately it will be a battle, luck or bad luck if the server can handle the load, 2500 attys, and last time there were 3000 customers who in the same minute clicked buy.
This time I'm going to be very, very intellectual by buying the additional equipment in advance and putting all my efforts into hijacking an rdta.
Then I have plans for a few dicodes mods, but we'll see what it ends up with.

You pay more with DNA, but you also get more in return on the day you sell.
I'm trying to buy dicodes or DNA, overlooking other brands, but I'm very much a TC supporter

    Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

my plan for the day is to buy pressings for the house wood, we are going to get local torrential rain this weekend, starting tonight.

Other than that, I'm working on getting everything I need for my beloved tractor.

It may happen one of these days that I find my mixx project,

Do you want to know what will make you jump out of bed quicker than an alarm clock?

It’s an auto- firing vape mod next to your head on the nightstand :shock: !

Scared the poop out of me. It’s the same Centaurus squonker that I had trouble with a couple of weeks ago. I cleaned around the fire button with isopropyl alcohol and it has been fine until last night.
