Broke out the Stratum Balance and the Kumo just now. Fresh coil/ wick and a tank of un-flavoured.

Felt that old twinge if excitement - almost like a new device. Nice to change things up.

I have won precisely one thing in my life, back in 1977: a small leather change purse that I still use.
Putting all joking aside (if I can), I actually did win something when I was about 30 years old (many moons ago). It was a brand-new Color Television, and I could hardly believe it..... But since that time, I have never won anything, and I constantly enter contests. When it comes to vape devices, I never win anything. That's not good for a person with shinyitis.

Somehow, and I cannot remember how, I signed myself up for notifications of all contests. I play them. I have won maybe 3-4 in my time at ECF. I always give them away to a needy person trying to get into vaping.

    Another non-shiny share.
I got bored with tinkering on all things ecigs. After learning how to build coils, use a RDA, an RTDA , TC and all other things. I had collected massive amounts of stuff, etc.
When I got bored I found another hobby to pour my time and money into. Mosaic work. I am showing the labor of love I made for my guy Joe, in his memory. I finished it last month but just gave it a final coat of sealer yesterday.

Hit a problem yesterday that I hope someone can help me with.

I decided to break out a KFL from the stash. It was SS, one of two I have but never used. No idea where it came from. It was set up with a 9 wrap coil made of very thin wire, definitely not one of mine. Guess I got it used. Should have cleaned it up when I got it but it's been sitting in the bag like that for many years.

I took it apart, including the deck. It was really hard to get the pin out and the deck insulator is still stuck in place. The problem is that everything is coated with some kind of hard shiny brown film. I can't even push the pin back in because of the film on the pin and the inside of the hole. It looks a bit like rust but it isn't. I scraped a little off the pin and the metal looked fine underneath. But it's really hard. I could scape it off the pin but it's on the inside of the holes and the insulators.

Anyone have thoughts on what the film might be and how I can remove it? Dried up juice? I gave all the pieces 30 mins in the U/S cleaner with Dawn and nothing happened.

That's gorgeous S! Such a happy piece. Amazing how you captured his face too.

Definitely dried juice. I found something similar in a squonker I thought I'd cleaned but missed some of the internals. Way back I used to vape commercial custard juices and this was the remnant.
My advice would be to leave your atty soaking in very warm water (replace it when it gets cold) for as long as necessary. The caked on juice should eventually soften and then you can clean with isopropyl alcohol.

    Rubbing alcohol works for me.
