Got a new tank yesterday, a Kayfun 5, curtesy of a generous ECF comrade.

Took a while to get it apart since it had been sitting in a box for 5 years. I was nervous about using too much force since I didn't know which parts were supposed to move. I mostly use KFL's these days but this is my first authentic SM.

Watched some videos to figure out how it all worked. I've also been plowing through a giant 108 page thread that was set up when the K5 was first announced. I'm on page 20 now just enjoying reading posts from members I once knew who aren't around anymore. So far they haven't arrived in America, all the thread has is rumors from Europe.

Anyway, I got it set up this morning with a fruit juice I also have in a KFL so I could compare them. Used the same coil in both. It's quite a lot different but both seem equally good to me so far. Never had juice control before so I should experiment with that.

Long time since I had a new tank to play with. Now I need backups and lots of spare parts. It really is cool, the quality of manufacture is beyond words.

I have a box full of Solo mods. Got the first on pre-order before they were released. I thought they were indestructible. Now my very first Solo has started misbehaving in TC mode. Recently it's started randomly resetting the base resistance. Then it either burns or doesn't give me any vapor and I have to reset it. Works just fine in power mode though. My other TC mods are Picos and they slowly but surely losing their screens.

Heard some possibly good news about China. Apparently new companies are popping up in the Philippines and Vietnam and some other places. They accept low value items from China, repackage them with fake descriptions and send them on to USA. There must be some additional cost to the redirection process, but a lot less the 200% tariffs.

Very cool!
Sort of takes me back to my early vaping days (I started Fall 2014) reading about RTAs on the forums and wondering if I should try one.

Kayfun, Taifun, Russian 91% - all new and mysterious things to me. Whether to go Authentic or clone, or rather, which clone was better.
Something new coming out almost weekly it seemed.

I ended up settling in with sub-ohm tanks when they developed to a point that satisfied my needs - especially with the arrival of the mesh coil.
I did finally get into RTAs a few years ago once I felt the need to become as self-sufficient as I could be.

Wishing you much enjoyment with your "new" Kayfun!

I have one Solo in use, for a couple years, two in the stash. The in service one did start to go flaky a while back, always resetting. I took the o-ring off the battery "plug" and it's been fine ever since. Not too concerned about dunking it, so...
All of mine are "early" releases, and did read a lot of chatter about later versions and QC issues...

That, and reports of very poor customer service have taken me off the Geekvape bus.

Going to give that a try. Took the o-ring off then decided to clean up the threads with Isopropyl 99. Looks like that job was well overdue. Now I need to clean all my threads and battery contacts. Used to do that regularly but it's been a long time. Maybe you saved my fleet of Solos.

I don't use TC much lately, just one setup still in action. But I have to do my wife's gear with TC. She chain vapes all day and she would burn up anything that wasn't TC.

Here's the result of cleaning the cap and socket on my first Solo. Bit embarrassing actually.

My hunch was that it just wasn't keeping a good contact on the battery, even though it was as tight as it could go, so kept acting like I'd just put in a fresh one.

Yeah, no TC here, either. Watt mode works just fine for me. Always been a fan of the KISS principle :)

Hope it helps!

Good evening shineys. I dug out my first 18650 vape so I'd have something to vape some 0mg nik with tomorrow. (biopsy) Uwell hypercar and whirl tank. It's really not bad, but heavy.

We've got 4 Solo's in use since they 1st came out. 2 have lost the charging port cover plug and 1 has a mind of it's own and just shuts down intermittently. I just have to 5 click-it and it comes right back on. Maybe a good cleaning on that one will put an end to it shutting off. And they get used heavily so I'm not complaining .... they're still my main vapes.
