Sounds like if I’m going to vape on a single battery Squonk. I will need coils that have much more resistance than what I’m currently running.

Sure don’t want to be a statistic

Do you have coil wire?

I can make up a couple simple coils that will work for you (nothing fancy) and throw them in the mail tomorrow if you have nothing..

I find your lack of faith disturbing...

What are you looking at wanting?
A super duper audio toy.
$1500 amp with every bell and whistle. Not what I'd pay for this one, but it's low enough that it's hard to pass.

Your build is doable, you just need more experience before doing. Shoot for .3-.5Ω builds for now.

If you aren't interested in building just order some simple clapton or parallel prebuilt coils. Don't forget when ordering for dual builds to measure resistance by half.

I'd think trying some simple builds would be a good plan. I think you can get to a happy "safe" place with a bit less mass and higher resistance in your coil. If you find you favor "exotic" builds, it might be worthwhile to consider a regulated squonker and carrying a battery with you. It will be safer in that instance.

But @JamesDMad , you are not a dumb newb! You should check out some of the threads in the mech forums. Dumb newbs argue!! They don't learn!! They ask the same thing over and over expecting different answers. "Dumb" newbs aren't teachable, "newbs" listen, pay attention and plan. LOL. You really should check out some of the mechanical threads that are in that forum, to see what a "dumb newb" looks like. LOL. I prefer to remain teachable, and I am quite sure (with some modifications) you can get your squonker working for you, and bottom line if you aren't liking what you are getting, you can still build low and massy on a regulated squonker, but I have a feeling it won't be necessary. Etc.

What gauge wire would you suggest for a safer build for my Squonk. Will be putting the drop on a regulated device.

24 or 26 gauge wire.. 26 is my personal favorite.. I just do simple coils though, nothing fancy.

An extra wrap or two on those coils you have in it now would bring you up enough..

I'm sure the guys can tell you about fancier coils builds...

If you buy pre made coils from kidney puncher or avs then look for .8 ohm coils...(you halve the ohms on dual coil builds unless you have a negative post)

I would run at .4 ohms or higher just to keep some battery life..

26g is a good starting point with kanthal, nichrome Ni80, or ss316 wires. 6-8 wraps on a 2.5 or 3mm rod will keep you in a good place for a dual build. Use steam engine to help you find a starting point.

Unregulated mods are very touchy-feely. If there is a hot spot or hot button, something is wrong. Battery too hot? Pushing too hard or something is wrong. Vapor production is your battery meter. Mechs are great but you really gotta get into them. Get a wiring diagram of the device and learn it so you can trouble shoot it. Learn every part and what it does. Become one with your mod...

Not really... it's not very different from using airflow disks and it's almost identical to the aeronaut airflow system
Aeronaut V2.5 (24mm) RDA
Not saying it's bad, it's just not new.
I love the Aeronaut V2, I need me one of those 2.5 bases!

I actually bought the build kit with all that I need to build - the wire. Will try my local B&M store just so I can start practicing the builds. I’ve watched some videos already but not yet attempted building one yet. The build I have is from Ohmland Coils and he does a great job. They aren’t cheap but I don’t mind paying for quality.

Thanks to everyone for all of your help today. And a special thanks to @Opinionated for the dire warning to stop right now.

Lol! Seriously I don’t understand some of the guys that will post a question then argue or ignore all the advice generously given by experienced vapers.

That looks re-wrappable to me, honestly. I guess the discoloration could have come from eliquid getting down into the hole, or it (maybe possibly) could have come from arc-ing some place but I think it's liquid.

@JamesDMad if you would like some battery wraps, PM me. I got some from amazon and IMRbatteries keeps sending me some for free. I think I have enough to supply most of ECF. LOL. It does look like it could be rewrapped to me.

I have a couple I think from my last battery order. But thank you anyway
