Never could get into the horror flicks. Only one I enjoyed was "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and not sure it qualifies.

It isn't horror like, oh, Texas Chainsaw Murders and the Jason sagas. Totally different kind of horror. The social commentary is genius. I loved it and wish it would win all of the awards but sadly, it won't. That mess of a movie with Matt Damon that Anna saw has a better chance and it isn't even nominated.

Now Pam i do consider you a friend, but I must warn you I am a Matt Damon fan. What movie did Anna see? The last Damon movie I saw was 'The Martian" which I love.

So you movie watchers...I was watching "The Dark Tower" before the forums picked up speed. Is it worth finishing?
Not as good as the book, IMO...I wanted it to be better. I watched the entire thing anyway, since there will be another.

Haven't read the books. Guess I'll give it a chance. Nothing else going on tonight.
If you're a reader, you can read the first 3 Tower books in a couple of days. The first 3, sadly, are the best of the lot (there's 9, I think).

I'll probably enjoy the next one more because I wont go into it expecting it to be like the books. Besides that, I like Idris Elba.

Yeah, I entirely agree. :toast:

(although now I'm wondering how they will butcher the story line next)

The Dark Tower series are different from his other "horror" books, IMO.
Some of his best work was non-horror, IMO. But I consider "The Stand" to be non-horror and it is still one of my all time favs by any author. Then of course there is Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption which is beautiful story.

I think the Stand is my favorite of his books :thumb:

Only liked a few of his books and a couple of the movie series.

Then you won't be disappointed. King's books are almost always great. The film adaptations are never faithful to them. A lot like the way Tolkien's books were done on screen.

Eight, actually. I thought the first was s-l-o-w but the next two were outstanding the rest were good but... not his best work. The dude was nutso in the 80's. He's gotta be certifiable now.

Then that eighth book seemed to take an eternity to choke down, so I counted it as two books
