Looks pretty large.
Bigger than my house, but so are shoeboxes.

It is larger. Once home and settled I'll do a side by side on some of my others.

The edges are...edges. Not rounded or anything.

Probably. He went ahead and told them how he planned to end everything in the books and said "Now pay me". Every time I read an interview with him and he talks about how much of an honor it is to be considered the "Tolkien of America" all I can think is TOLKIEN FINISHED THE LORD OF THE RINGS. George really bothers me

LMAO - I would never have figured out that George bothers you, Randy. He bothers me too and no one should EVER compare themselves to Tolkien - that is where you lose fantasy fans everywhere.

Edited to correct my excited misspelling. :D

In George's defense (can't believe I just typed those words) the comparison usually comes from whoever is writing the story. George gets asked what he thinks of the comparison and George gives his best "who me" guffaw and talks about how honored his is to be mentioned in the same breath with Tolkien. I might add that when he does these interviews he's NOT WORKING ON THE BOOKS. Maybe someone should mention to his Lordship that Tolkien finished his books

There is no beating Tolkein... ever.... sorry.

I loved that when asked what flaw he noticed most in his trilogy was that it was "too short." LOL.

Anna
Silmarillion took care of that "too short" problem for me.

My second favorite Sci fi author is Thomas Whatshisname, the dude who wrote the books about the guy with leprosy that was cured in his fictional sci-fi world.... Man, it's been a long time since I read those, and LOL, tells you something that I cannot remember but he also finished his story.

If there is one thing I cannot stand, it's an author who starts a whole series of books and then won't finish. And listen to me, I should be editing right now.... So I have some sympathy for being you know, laggardly.

I think the problem with some of these series writers is that there original intention wasn't to write a series but then the first book became so popular that they tried writing a series that was never in their head to write.

Others just got lost along the way in the more minute details and lost inspiration to finish. ..

A one off book is hard enough, to make a series has got to be difficult.

Yes, that's true, but George R.R. Martin always intended "A Song of Ice and Fire" to be a series or saga. His problem is that he goes off into side plots that don't advance the narrative.

I think that's how it went for Stieg Larson when he wrote "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". He intended it to be a novel but while writing it found that he loved the main character and couldn't help but share more of her. He ended up finishing 3 novels and died before they could be published and before he could finish the story.

I think all of George's problems start with Tequila and end with aspirin.

I would be lost without my Kindle. Lifelong book lover, but they were taking over the house. I love my Kindle Paperwhite. I could never read on the laptop @Letitia. My daughter has a Kindle but reads on her phone. Whatever works as long as we read.

One of the reasons that I got a kindle was to have the ability to change the font size. Some of the larger books that I've read would have tiny print. Forgot to mention, I wear progressive lens. :)
