I was really overwhelmed when I started building but I found the best way was to just jump in and do it. It was partially motivated by the fear of deeming JUST as I was starting to vape and learn about it, I was all like, "I need to get self sufficient quickly."

I made a few purchasing errors along the way, and I really had a "thrilling" not always in a good way, mind you, type of time. But, for me it was worth it to be able to know that I could in fact, vape through whatever the FDA threw my way.

With that said, I had a fine motor tremor and that made things harder, but I can safely say I have enough wire and wick and RTAs that I like and can use now, and that is a nice feeling. There will always be a place in my heart for some drop in tanks, and I really prefer them for out and about.

But, yes, maybe it is time to start building, we will all help! You can do it, if you want to? Do you? It made my life a lot more interesting as I was learning, and in the end I got there. You'll get lots of help if you merely announce your "desire" I'm quite sure. But I am exceedingly glad I know how to build and how to DIY, because it is also fun (if not immediately, then some place along the road and etc.)

Now, if I could only get my bedding evenly situated in my washing machine so the spin cycle would finish. That's seeming hard at the moment. There are things much harder than building that you probably do.... that you will realize once you start the process..

    Damn bedding. LOL.

I normally vape at about 12 watts... what size wire should I get?
    Cowboy, why two different guages?
Do y’all feel like kindergarten teachers yet?
What resistance coils you usually use? That works better for figuring all that out...

GEMSTONES!!! LOL, but if you are a jewelry maker, you are going to be Just Fine with coils. I'd say your biggest issue is like, picking what you want to build. Etc.

Coiling and wicking is just art with a purpose. We are going to need pics, LOL.

I’m not afraid of building them, I’m afraid of using what I built! None of my jewelry ever burned up lol

Between.8 and 1.6. But prebuilt coils are all different. A triton 1.6 I run at a higher wattage than a innokin zenith .8. You see my confusion now?

With our help, you've nothing to worry about.
I know plenty of non mechanical people who do just fine building coils.

You run based on what you put in.
Pretend they're prebuilts for the purposes of running wattage.

    Ni80 26g 7 wraps at 3mm single coil should get you .8.
Hard to pull off with ss316. Unless you have miles of room. And I do suggest single coil rda or rta's. Dual will just mean a royal PITA.

Like any prebuilt coil, you prime your new "R" whatever, slowly working your way up in resistance. Every tank is going to be a bit different, so it's just the same process, only failing to prime as well probably won't ruin your coil. Maybe your wick.

No need for confusion. It sounds like you want a MTL RTA or RDA. And that possibly, shooting for around a 1.0 coil might be a good place to start. But you could go lower or slightly higher.

I'd probably recommend either the Ares, or the Siren V2 to start, with the caveat that some people hate the Siren V2. I do not. However, it WAS the first RTA that I really had great success with so it's hard to hate it. I like the Berserker, but it's slightly harder to build, IMO, although not at all difficult. It has great flavor but the tightest draw of all of them... I find it hard to vape it sometimes with my dentures in. The Ares is great for flavor, and it's well designed. I bought it what seems like forever ago and I'm still on my (first) rayon wick. LOL. And, it's not like I don't vape it a lot, I do. Pretty adjustable airflow. In the Siren V2, I really prefer to run it with the airflow wide open, but it's a pretty "thirsty" tank. I run my Ares at 14 watts, using a 1.0 coil, Siren V2 is about the same, and etc.

    You'll do fine.

Unless you are using mechanicals you won't have a problem with that. A regulated device won't fire if the coil is too low or shorted. Problem with mechmods is they will gladly fire no matter if the coil is bad or not. You are looking at quality regulateds so you should have no worries.

I would also recommend a single coil device. It is a bit simpler and for your style of vaping I don't ever see dual coils as being necessary. If there is a good shop by you they should build coils. If you tell them what you want, they could show you how, step by step in person.
