Probably on my fb, I'll check later. I don't the whole closed systems only thing is going to fly imo. Dam has already broke on open systems and there is no closing it now. If that is what the article is about.
I read it a little while ago and if true it's pretty ominous.

A short synopsis...The fda has set aside $23million to crack down on non compliant vapes ...aka any product born after 8/16. They are ready to enforce that via inspections of manufacturers and vape shops that have a house line of juice, and visiting shops looking for false or misleading labels. Also, it appears Gottlieb is getting ready to try and shut down any flavors other than tobacco, maybe menthol. We’ll see how this plays out, typically the fda moves at a snails pace. Fingers crossed

Jac has shipped!!!! Hopefully Royal Mail is better than china post or USPS. Other 3 packages will be here this week. Commence the stalking of the mail carrier... non shiny, but since vape mail is what’s distracting me... Saturday the hubs will get his head shaved for St Baldrick’s ( raises $ for research for childhood cancer). I’m mildly, ok totally, freaking out about the thought of him a)bald and b) minus his long curly hair.

That’s an exciting new shiny!!! Good luck with your hubbys bald head

I posted it earlier to General Discussion or maybe Media/News forum.

...can you imagine how far that 23 million would go to get people vaping instead of smoking.
This world is cracked.
They don't want people to live healthier lives, they want us sick and dieing so they can make more money.

Just read it but thank you Mel. 23 million is a drop in the bucket for even just checking out the warehouses. Now if this comes to pass the anti vaping or pro BT states will use their own resources to crack down on local shops. That is where it will hurt those dependant on shops. What will really bite is for those that use any drop in coil that wasn't approved before August 2016.

...on the market...
I think the big companies have already had most popular coils approved. Plus China has been helping with $$ getting their products registered. China always will pay to protect the US market. They've already proven that. All the FDA has done is kickstart a new black market here in the US and maybe affect innovation here. Wonder who gets the money from the fines?

Big Tobacco is certainly getting their money's worth.

That is the rub. BT has money and history, the vaping industry is just too small and young to fight back financially even with China $$ help.

The most salient point in the article, IMO: "The FDA has asked for bids on a contract to provide “Vape Inspection” services. The agency is prepared to spend $23 million over a five-year period to verify compliance, and has published a detailed list of items inspectors will be searching for."

Good luck with that.

Contracts awarded to private industries in this administration (see Puerto Rico as an example) haven't been effective. So, they will award the contract to a 2 person company and nothing will happen. Are they going to pay overtime to customs agents to open every single package from China?
