Can you remove the base cap and take a picture?

If it's not a fully seated deck then there is a manufacturing problem with that unit. steam crave will replace defective parts if you let them know it's bad.

I still don't understand the wick completely covering the air hole though.

I actually looked that up, and on one of the sites, they had three (I think) in a row in one picture, and the black one looked like it did have that gap. Might have been just the angle or something. I was going to post it but got distracted ( plumber is here) and now I can’t find which site I saw that on.

The Ares I got yesterday works great. I rebuilt it to the designer's specs 26g kanthal - 5 wraps @ .6Ω and it's as good of a MtL as I ever had at 25-30 watts

I was wary of the fire button too but actually it feels quite natural and comfortable where it’s located. Really good mod especially for the money. I got mine on sale or clearance for about $25!!!!!! But I can’t remember where. Several others here bought one at the same time so maybe they can chime in. I think there is a thread about it as well.

I took a couple of pics of the base and where it screws into the chamber. Thanks for taking the time to “fix” this.

Maybe it’s just more noticeable on the darker ones. Still I think I’ll contact SC about it now that its been pointed out lol!!!
