The coyote population here boomed a few years ago, and I almost never see anything in my yard other than rabbits and now a stupid squirrel. Squirrel is cute, but he’s a total jerk. I used to get opossum and raccoons, don’t really miss them though. It wouldn’t be good, Georgia being how she is.

So far no issues with the coyotes. They stay outside of the fence. Very cool to see them up close.

So are Iguanas. Popular in areas of NY for some time.

As to communicating with roaches, I just kill 'em. Could care less what their sob story is.
Talking to a pest control guy one time and he told me about a building they fumigated for roaches. They started at the top and by the time they got to the ground floor apartments, the roaches poured out of the wall sockets like water after they took the covers off...

Good move that. Lithium eats your liver. Sometimes it’s the only stuff that works though.

Ive had good luck w Seroqel except I had to stop taking it due to restless leg syndrome side effect besides the 40 lbs I gained.

Lamictal has been working well since then. Not as good as the Seroquel but no side effects.

When I was in college, I had a girlfriend who moved into an older upper west side NY apartment. Obviously it had some roaches. I got an exterminator for her. He started in the kitchenette area (NY apartments are small although at least affordable to a college student 40 years ago if they could tolerate having a hot plate identified as a stove by the real estate agent) and roaches started to swarm out from behind the cabinets. It was like a horror film. They were falling everywhere including the exterminator who didn't seem all that surprised or troubled. We ended up with a few inch thick pile of dead roaches on the floor that required a broom and a scoop to clean up. Good thing she was an amazing girlfriend or I would have run out screaming for my mommy.

What's also bad here is when they tear down old buildings for new development. They literally seal them up in like plastic/tyvec type stuff and pump it full of eat poison. Damn things end up escaping the sinking ship anyway. And NY rats are not to be underestimated. They can get as big as a small cat. Can take 2 or more cats to take one down. At least the mice are pretty normal and don't try to steal your food when you're not looking.

Let’s hope they stay outside the fence.

I have to worry about hawks in my area having yorkies and rabbits in the yard. They hawks don’t care which one they get.

I live by a river where all sorts of hawks and Bald Eagles nest. My dogs are big enough not be targeted now, but I had to run off a Cooper’s when Georgia was a pup. I saw a shadow fall over the whole side yard over where she was laying. Went over and there was a Cooper’s about 12’ off the ground eyeing her. Those things are huge. I had goosebumps all over my body but no way was I letting it fly off with my baby!

She was only maybe 8lbs at the time, and he could have easily taken her.

Fortunately so far, the coyotes seem to prefer to hunt the ditch and bean field down the road, rather than hop my fence, when they come up from the river.

Fine, I'll show my ignorance of normal wildlife. Allow for where I grew up and live. What's a Cooper?

Good plan regarding the roaches Eskie. Do you nuke them from orbit or go all Klendathu on them?

Lasers from space if you book ahead of time.

Awesome! I like to live vicariously through the stories of others than have first hand experience with those damn things.

They say New Yorkers are survivors, vermin and all. :D

Shadow @Eskie comment, what is a cooper?

In Australia Dingo’s take your babies. Here in Canada, or at least Montreal, Eagle’s takes your babies!

Google “Cooper” or “Cooper Animal” and you get a wide range of results. Google “Cooper Bird” and you get…..

Stepping on Barishnikov probably wouldn’t work though. The man is crazy ripped.
