I installed the updated firmware back whenever, but it's not a star performer with the base chip, so I use it in wattage only. It's still tough to find mainstream chips that do TC well, although that's been improving in the last year or so. The Yihi "should" be far more competent, but all the details aren't even out so it's still a we'll see situation.
Initially I was going to get a Drone with the dna 250c chip which is terrific for temp control, but there are 410 leaking issues and questions about the squonk cutout and whether I can really use it without knocking the battery door off. Which is unfortunate as that was my plan before this special edition of the Topside dual was announced.
Absolutely. Make sure you like it first. Then I have little doubt you'll be scrambling for squonk stuff all over the place like the rest of us, but why rush the insanity of it all.

And here is the little baby I rescued from the trailer park. We have now moved from completely in cage to free roaming the spare bedroom. I did not want to do this too soon as she is very skittish and I felt she would hide from me. Still has swinging boobies, like a momma cat. The vet says it will go down eventually. I have to socialize this girl enough to get her off to adoptions. Some time in the future. First I have to teach her to trust. I took the cage off the table and put it on the floor, I covered it with a blanket, I made her a window seat, basket/bed and I left the cage door open. Shut the spare bedroom door. Came back 30 minutes later and she had pulled the blanket off the cage, left the cage and was lounging the window seat. She did not run and hide. Much different than the last time I let her out of the cage 4 weeks ago and she disappeared under the bed for 24 hours until I forced her out. She still hisses a little bit but it is almost comical because she puts her head in my head to pet her as she hisses. I wonder if she thinks hissing is a greeting? The little hisses are so mild they would not scare a flea. She will not survive back at that dog eat dog (cat eat cat?) trailer park because she is far too meek so that is not a solution for her and will not happen as long as there is breathe in my body. She is also not a good candidate for the Petsmart adoptions as she is not social. Going to be a hard one to place.
I honestly can't see myself not liking it once I get the hang of it. But I think jumping the gun and getting two before I know for sure is rash enough for this month.

I have sensibly spent about $150 in the last couple weeks on squonking setups. I could have held up around the $50 mark, but there were great deals and I came down with a bout of shinyitis. I guess we're both betting on it being fun!

Yeah, probably. I have always found those claiming to be "white witches" to be the worst of the bunch. I'd rather stick pins in some doll than put a curse on my kid. Who does that? Some crazy mommy, who like read some book. Her kid believed it. She called me pretending to be the aunt, and was like muttering stuff in between.

Actually I've got enough Provaris or I would have grabbed it. I did order something else this morning. I was looking for spare STM parts. I found STM's for $15 on Ebay. That way I get a complete tank with 2 glass, an RTA head, loads of orings and everything else, a lot cheaper than buying the parts separately. Got a couple of them. Not as exciting as a Provari but useful.

I had my eye on that drone, too. Let me know if you hear anything about those issues being addressed. I’m not buying it if I have to fix it but if they can modify it I’ll consider it.
I also looked at the Vicious ant squonk, but I’ve heard a couple of those have crashed and it didn’t sound like the company was stepping up to fix them.
Personally, I could see buying a higher end mod if it had stellar reviews, but I’m getting along fine without the fancy chip. I’d rather have simple stuff that works.

I took to it like a duck to water. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t be your thing, but you’ll never know until you try. And it can’t hurt to have a squonk just to round out the collection.

How much of a pain is it to refill the Luna's squonk bottle? It seems like it will be a messy business.

Actually I did MTL for 2 months before I went DL but the only attys that might work are the ammit and oh well maybe that’s it.
The P3 goes to 0.5 ohms which is more my speed. Tbh I’m a bit excited about these. Something different and mostly new to me.
