I guess it depends on why they want a mech --- if it is to avoid electronics which can malfunction, then mosfet/pcb mods like these wouldn't be suitable. There are a few true mech side fire mods (like the Bestia already mentioned), but I have no experience with any as of yet.

If a mosfet/pcb is acceptable, then the least expensive one I am familiar with is the Atto clone on FT:

$14.90 SXK Atto Styled 18350/18650 Mechanical Mod - stainless steel at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I've had one for a few years, and even though I've gotten a couple other side-fire mosfet tubes (Cthulhu, Ultroner), this is the one that has stayed in rotation.
What I really want is a straight mech, non hybrid if possible. I may be looking for a unicorn in a side fire. Locking is a def want. Pretty sure none of mine lock

Good deal man, it's nice to win stuff. I have the worst luck usually where luck is involved. Last month I won an Aegis X kit, and I was blown away. Made my whole month. Glad you won bud.

Thanks my friend I know what you mean by bad luck. But it could always be worse I suppose. I do have good luck I guess I mean I’m still alive when pretty well all my friends are dead. I was in a pity party for some time after being single for 25 years and finally having a serious girlfriend only to have her die way too soon.
But I’m still young alive and have potential.

I ran into my old boss who retired 4 years ago Mabye more and he told me how many young people close to my age we used to work with had died from overdoses. He told me I’m lucky to be alive considering I was probably one of the worst.

I'm so thankful you are. And I'm so sorry for your loss. No words can begin to ease the pain, but just know that I care and am thinking of you.

Straight mech, lockable, side fire, non-hybrid, tube ... I'm pretty sure you have correctly identified your quarry as one of these:

Lol! I’ve pretty much hit the point of having one of everything else, so.....:lol:
Ok, if I remove side fire (which apparently only mosfests have)... what about a nice non hybrid, low voltage drop with a easy fire button. My favorite is still my old Flagship (made in Indiana!), but no lock so it stays at home.

    Morning shinies ;)

Yes, and I've had some vertical RDAs with less than satisfying AF. If I remember, this one seemed to be designed with AF right on the coil. I need to find a review.

It's the Le Turbo rda, had it wishlisted:
$19.90 SXK LE TURBO Styled RDA Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer - stainless steel + PEI / 22mm diameter / w/ BF pin at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Built the Radius v2 RDA today - about time I had one I didn't like  Easy deck to build and wick, but with Phillips head screws. Airflow perfect - very smooth and restricted enough. But with a berry juice, the flavour just wasn't there compared to other rdas ;)

Thanks it’s been well over a year since she committed suicide now and I feel better. I didn’t work out at the gym like I used to love or do much of anything for probably a year. Didn’t even look at a woman for that long either. I still don’t talk to women and I still think Mabye life would be better without that hassle.

I still get random reminders and just the other day I couldn’t get her suicide notes out of my head and then remember how her family hated me so much because she wrote on a note to leave me part of her money she would get from her job with the government.

I got flashbacks to the day or two after she died when The dad came in stone cold to our apartment after her mom said she wanted something of hers only to be attacked basically and told I stole the dead baby’s ashes from a past relationship and her earrings.

Then to be told I’ll never see a dime of her money if they have anything to say about it. The mom said she would come alone and just wanted a thing of hers to smell and I understood so I met her at our apartment. Then she brought the cavalry with her basically to attack me and my mom and destroy her suicide note that labeled me to get 25 percent of her money. She only took the things of most value that costed money and rooted our apartment looking for certain expensive things. Didn’t take anything like a scarf or hers to smell .

Lucky my mom can hold her own and stuck up for me when I was so broken I couldn’t. She called the cops and the day made a horrible loss even harder.

The mother and father then told her ex boyfriend she had the kid with who is part of a well known biker gang out here that I gave her drugs and stole all that stuff including the baby’s ashes. That was never the case I was sober through our whole relationship and it was her that hid booze and started doing drugs. That’s why I broke up with her the day she killed herself. I couldn’t take it anymore and the lying so I said that’s it. It was then she jumped off a bridge.

I was thinking I was a dead man when I started getting hostile texts from this guy who is known for kicking doors down with his crew. Lucky I was sincere and my story was almost exactly the same as his watching her slip back to booze over and over. The mother is a manipulative sociopath with no emotion and would try to get people turned on me or get me arrested.

Her sponsor told me to try to get some money because I took pictures of her notes but she didn’t have much and I really don’t want that money or have To fight for any money with those freaks.

They all just didn’t want to look st themselves playing a part in the death of their child and I hope they have regret today. They could never show love and both picked on her every chance they got even when she was doing well. They made fun of our apartment we worked so hard for and I swear if I ever see them today I don’t think I could hold back.

There are side fire true mechs (bestia, purge slam) but they all seem to be hybrid. I don't see actual locking on most, but on the purge I think you can loosen the bottom cap to disconnect the battery.

On the Slam Piece it does have a lock for the firing button. You turn the switch on the bottom and the delrin cup inside blocks it from firing. I don't know about the Slim Piece.

Good morning shinyitises? Is it daylight savings today? AZ (in its one sane move) does not participate. However, It used to drive me bonkers and the kid was cranky for weeks.

I am so time sensitive, even like, the smallest change in time for the rest of the USA messes me up. Sigh, also gonna have go get back on track for like, the dang work thing by Friday. That will be so FUN. Sigh.

Over the last few days I had very good exchanges with BCF regarding flavors and looking into the future (ummm, specifically flavor bans).

Here is what BCF said about a flavor ban. "Only time will tell really. We will most likely be fine as a reseller of flavoring we do not sell e-liquid or nicotine products or devices but it really depends on how far they take these bans and what effect it will have on the manufactures." No surprises there, it's the answer I expected. No one knows for certain. However further Q&A revealed information that is much more positive.

BCF serves many in the food and beverage industry. "As far as the company we will be ok we service many outlets in the food and beverage industry."

Now we're getting somewhere, onto my next questions...

Are the flavor formulations we all know, and buy, for DIY the same as those you sell to the food and beverage industry? Wouldn't those still be available?

Aren't all, or nearly all, of the same flavor companies players in the food and beverage industry?

If the formulations are the same there should be no problem obtaining many of the same flavors. Correct?

BCF's answer to the above questions: "Correct, Most flavoring is the same and there should not be any problem when buying flavors regardless of any type of flavor bans one would assume."

So that's BCF's take. My take, though I cannot state this with accuracy, is that any flavor ban would likely be on juices at the retail level and not the flavors we currently purchase for DIY. Most of the flavors we buy are the same as those used in the food and beverage industry and there is zero chance of those being banned.

Does anyone here peruse the "Perfumer & Flavorist" web site? You can get a free account and they also send out a monthly, or bi-monthly, magazine. They offer much good information. Worldwide the flavor industry is massive. P&F has had zero reporting about any kind of flavor ban in their industries. Logically one would assume that if there were any flavor bans the flavor industry would be up in arms. They are not. Considering most of the flavors we use are also used in the food and beverage industry no one sees those going away. The flavor industry is a multi-billion dollar industry.

I also asked BCF for their experience with the shelf life of flavors. "Flavors kept in a cool dark place like a cabinet can expect to see about a 2-year shelf life though I have heard others say they will last even longer." That has been my personal experience with flavors as well. I have some that are many years old which are perfectly fine. My flavors, VG/PG and nic freezer are stored in a studio in my basement which is a very cool dark place. I have half of my stash at my brothers house where we replicated my storage setup. He keeps half of his supply at my house. Same with mods/atty's. That's our disaster recovery plan for vaping.

With flavors some may take the wait and see approach and others may choose to stock-up. To remove any doubt, stock-up. If one enjoys riding the waves of uncertainty then wait and see. Choice.

Hopefully that helps calm some who may be nervous about the future of flavors and DIY.

It isn't the flavors or base liquids we need worry about, it has always been the nic. I believe the tax will pass, thought it may be less than what is pushing through it will still be high.

That was me :). I didn’t see any reviews or discussions on FT on the mod. Do you know anything about it? I’ll save the link and see if I can find reviews. TY for remembering one of us was searching!
Yeah I thought it was you but didn't know where to look back into the sea of posts to make sure.
No I don't know anything about the mod sorry. FT opened a thread here about a special they have currently and that caught my eye. I also am looking for reviews. Don't like spending that kind of money without watching a few of them...
If sometimes does come up, i'll let you know ;)

@Letitia , I've always believed the same. Though with flavors there are many here who don't know, understand or are simply confused, as seen in various threads including this one earlier this week.

IMO, and likely many others, screw the nic taxes. I've had enough nic stashed for some time. I just received my last nic order from Nude Nicotine (Armor argon gas purged). It's the emergency backup nic. ;)
