It's my go to build for mechs.

I generally run the positive in the direction of the vents on my tubes, yeah. Most are positive up but some, like my Deathwish Modz Black Raven, SOI Shorty-X or Dreamer have venting around the button, so I run positive down in those.I'm new to Mechs and the reason I got the Armageddon despite that is cuz it's going in my storage for later. I had heard that the reason a lot of them will be positive side down is because that's where the vent holes are or were usually located and that way if the battery did vent it would have somewhere to go a straight shot rather than having to go around to the bottom I know that's not an issue or at least it wouldn't seem to be an issue with a squonk because there's plenty of ventilation but in a tube mod is that a true thing? Curiosity's sake only
Really? It has the + sign at the bottom and - at the top, but that doesn't matter?@Sloth Tonight You can run the battery either way since it's a full mechanical. I run mine positive up all the time.
Consider it as more of a serving suggestion. Polarity only applies to regulated mods. You can run either way in a full mech.Really? It has the + sign at the bottom and - at the top, but that doesn't matter?
Wow, learn something new every day. Thanks! I feel relieved because I'm so used to doing positive up it's entirely possible I'd do it out of habit one day.Consider it as more of a serving suggestion. Polarity only applies to regulated mods. You can run either way in a full mech.

You'd think I'd have known since I used mechs exclusively for several years, but I had no idea.
Hey as an aside, what's your preferred method of taking the battery out? It's a tight fit in there. I was thinking of using the door to gently pry it out?
Thanks!I smack it against my hand one or two times and it comes right out.
Awesome, thanks. I'll give it a try on my Furyan.Usually a pair of Ni80 tri-core fused claptons clocking in around .11 to .13.

A tube mechanical can build up pressure and explode in a battery failure. The vent holes are located at the bottom on many tube mechs. If you are using a tube mech with the battery positive down make sure your wraps are in perfect condition. A torn wrap can cause a dead short because the connection will go straight through the body (-)and button (+) without going through the coil first.I'm new to Mechs and the reason I got the Armageddon despite that is cuz it's going in my storage for later. The Zion RDA came today - along with a v2 (yes, I know but I couldn't help it!)
Okay, so Zion is good, nice flavor (doing coffee in it atm) But it's just a little airier than is my preference.
I guess it won't be hard to either PIF or get my money back if I decide.. but it's not a bad little RDA anyway.. might keep it air or no..
I bet you'll like it when you dig it out in the future. The one tip I'll give you which is worthy advice for even the most experienced mech users/builders is to double check your resistance with the cap on the atty before putting it on the mech (via either a regulated mod, ohm meter, coilmaster etc). I used mechs exclusively for at least 3 years and only once did I ever have a short, and of course it was a time that I had not checked a fresh build with the cap on first. But honestly mechs are awesome. This mod is reuniting me with a past love. I do prefer regulated but there's something satisfying about a mech.I'm new to Mechs and the reason I got the Armageddon despite that is cuz it's going in my storage for later. That makes a heck of a lot of sense. I'm really stupid excited over the Armageddon. Once I make sure that I know what I need to know I'll probably start out on the luxotic bf since it does have some protections. I'm getting fairly good at building specific ohms at least with Kanthal stainless steel still throws me. I'm also madly in love with the way the luxotic feels I like to just kind of hold it which I probably should have kept to myself cuz it makes me sound insane...maybe I need a hobby or maybe I just found my hobbyI bet you'll like it when you dig it out in the future. Anyway this little fella is perfect for future storage. Great choice![]()
I went back and bought a second squonker...and an extra panel. Shipping is back to no signature required too. Finally got around to trying out the MFG V2. Stuck my Reaper on top and took it for a whirl. Here's my initial thoughts, for what they're worth. I love the small size. It's the smallest mod I've ever owned by far. The delrin feels great in hand and is especially awesome since I live in a cold environment. It will take some getting used to because the firing button needs to be pressed pretty hard in comparison to my other mods. I would consider that a con - BUT - since there isn't a way (that I can see) to lock it, that's actually a plus because I really don't foresee it firing in my pocket easily.
My atty fit perfectly so I didn't need to try adjusting the 510, and I think it would be easy to do but am kind of glad I didn't need to find out. The black reaper looks great on this mod so I'll just consider them a pair and will probably never need to make an adjustment. I actually love the included squonk bottle too - it's stiffer than what I'm used to, but it feels great! Not too stiff, not too soft.
The only thing I don't like about it is the writing on the back. That's just a personal preference thing though. I'm not a fan of logos etc. I really wish it was just plain black, but hey, it's all good!
For $20 this is an insanely good deal and I couldn't be happier with it. Gotta be careful as I've never had a mod that required the battery to be inserted upside down, but careful is my middle name. I think it's a winner, and will probably be the mod I'm taking out and about with me more often than not. Again, the delrin is great in a cold environment, and it's a mech so no worries about dropping it in the snow and ruining the electronics.
Verdict: Sloth approvesthey're still in stock for $20/mod so just wanted to give my initial impressions in case anybody's been on the fence about ordering one.
ETA: couple more thoughts - for one thing, @Tralfaz pointed out that you don't have to run the battery positive side down, it can be run either way. For another I wanted to comment on the door because it is fantastic. The magnets are really strong and it snaps into perfect placement with ease, smooth as butter. This mod is really, really well designed!
