Anna, you are getting way too sensible in your old age :p

I'm 44. However, I have, per my mother, been extremely lacking in self control since at the age of two I started stealing her candy and shoving the wrappers in the air duct. I denied it was me, even in the face of ALL the evidence,, I very sweetly said, "That was not me, mom."

So, I have to use freaking WORKAROUNDS like competitiveness,. If I can compete with myself in a structured way that makes sense, I can do it,

It's annoying but you just do what you must. In any case now my vapes are organized I need NOTHING.

So no more excuses.

My mom tells me 44 is just like 50. I don't believe it but I am also not 72 so who knows. As far as I am concerned even if it IS true she should let me find out myself.

Where does one buy prepaid cards?

You can usually arrange on e with your bank,, where they offer you a "line of credit' which is whatever you deposit on the card.

Also generally used to boost credit history after a Bad Time. I think I can have one pretty sure. Or that stupid "We are targeting poor people now Amex card at Walmart."

I plan to go with my bank. My new bank.

DotMod is running a 50% off everything sale through Cyber Monday. No code needed.

At 50% off I could not resist and scooped up a gunmetal limited release DotBox 75w mod.
Why didn't you get this one? Such a deal!

Zazie, my MIL went though this process recently, and I believe your assessment is correct. They have to put the person receiving treatment into remission in order to collect the stem cells, and that remission is achieved via chemo. But chemo takes time for the person receiving treatment to heal, so for MIL there was a window wherein she was healing and then they harvested.

For her particular diagnosis (plasma cell leukemia, a NASTY one) after harvest she would then receive a major round of chemo, designed to wipe out everything in her marrow, and then the stem cells would be reintroduced into her body, where they hopefully would regrow, putting her into remission. She was slated to have two back-to-back SCTs.

Sadly, she had an unexpected resurgence of another cancer and it overcame her this week. But she was diagnosed late and had a lot of other problems in the meantime.

***i will not belabor this issue any more on this thread***
I think you should belabor it as long and as hard as you want. You've just gone through a heartbreaking gut punch of an ordeal. If talking about it helps, I know everyone here is happy to listen.

Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense: instead of harvesting stem cells while the cancer is active, knock it back, let the stem cells recover, grab 'em, create a clean slate with chemo, and then reintroduce the stem cells to restore the immune system, cancer free. A stay in a sterile room in a hospital must be a must, I would think, until the immune system is up and running again. @charlie1465 is going to be vaping very cagily for a while, I'm betting.

You are incredibly kind to say this and I feel it to the very bottom of my soul. Thank you so much.

Definitely stunning ... you'd better work double hard on the rehab 'cause I expect some skipping will be in order when that hits the mailbox.

I suppose I could try doing that at a low speed. I guess the other direction would just make the braids or whatever you want to call it tighter
The problem is you've got nothing to push pull against. You need to unpick at least a little bit of the end and then make a loop to work with... I'd just bin it though.... Is it really worth it?? :)

Huh, that's interesting--I always thought chemo decimated the stem cells, so they were harvested beforehand and then reintroduced into the system to repopulate. Maybe that's the old-fashioned way.

Whatever the case, I'm glad you'll be getting a bit of a break after next week so you can be all rested up for the final lap. Will you have to be hospitalized for a while after the transplant?
Hi Zazie

Yes I get to have Christmas at home and then I'm hospitalised for 3-4 weeks to have the stem cells reintroduced. It doesn't sound much fun I'm put in an isolation ward and they give me a seriously strong chemo which kills off all my natural defences and then they proceed with the auto-grafting.

It'll be worth it in the end :)
