Hail storm hit yesterday. Wrote off my daughter's and her partner's cars. I'm a couple of hundred kms from them but it was heading my way too so I covered up. Next door neighbour thought I was doing a Christo style art installation

Around here people would pad the grill before the car.

I’ve been shopping, but only for mouse traps. It’s a winter thing, almost always get a couple.

The last couple years though they have been really hard to catch. Because of the dogs, I can only put poison in the crawl space, and that helped but I still have a couple. They’re too small to set off the Victor snap traps - I got the plastic ones because I can’t seem to set the wooden ones.

And of course being an animal lover, I already tried a live catch. I caught a mouse and a half. That was really quite awful. The only thing that got them was sticky traps but that’s unimaginably cruel. And they learn. I have to constantly change what I’m using and where I put it.

I found one that’s a box that electrocutes them, should be here tomorrow.

But if anyone has any ideas please let me know. I’m going crazy trying to clean everything. Ugh, so gross! I’ve only seen poop in the back hall floor so far, but it feels like everything is dirty lol.

Watching some of the academy nominated movies.

The Irishman was good, a little long but quite good. (We get to find out what happened to Hoffa. ;))

The Lighthouse had awesome cinematography and acting from Dafoe, strange movie though.

Looking forward to Ford VS Ferrari, The Two Popes and 1917.

Ugh. Went through that with my daughter’s car. Wasn’t totaled, but it was a 2 month wait where she was at the time for an auto body shop to get the dings out as there was such a long list of cars to repair.

I believe there’s a Daedalus styled spool holder/wrapper for around $14. You just have to use your own drill.

@AngeNZ Happy Anniversary!!!! Well done!:rickroll:

Well usps decided to deliver lol.
Several things but the only one i am going to mess with right now is the rpm 80 pro.
Gonna start with the standard rpm coil. The new ones are substantially larger, i guess thats how they get 80 watts. This does have the round drip tip and swappable 18650.
Decided on their stabwood design to get something different.

Now that you mention it, that’s all I can see.

Daedalus info. I can wrap by hand but with this tool it's flawless and fast. It also allows the ability to make custom wire.

The one thing that is nice about the full kit is that rectangular drill that sits flat on the table/desk, but the spinner works fine with a regular drill if you have a decent cordless drill and want to save the $22 difference.

I always thought about picking one up but I end up with a sorta ok coil by hand, but I also don’t make anything fancier than a fused Clapton.

I tried all those methods a few years back starting with the live traps. Nothing worked. I finally had to hire an exterminator. I have dogs and a cat too so they put the bait traps in spaces they couldn’t get at and I don’t allow the cat in the basement and no one goes in the attic.

The exterminator said that if you see a couple then they’re are A LOT more because they breed so quickly.

I felt really bad about it but I found mouse droppings in my 2nd floor bedroom. They had crawled up through the walls and into the insulation throughout the house. I had been actually taking them to a park down the street but they find their back to a nest up to a mile away somehow.

I had a yearly contract for 2 years. I haven’t seen a mouse or droppings since.

Agreed. The nice thing about the black box is it's reversible, speed adjustable and has an on/off switch instead of using the trigger. Also the chuck on the box is the same height as the tool. The box uses 18650 batteries. Another thing nice about using the tool is you don't have to stretch the wire and use clamp/swivels. The Daedalus isn't necessary but it sure makes the process alot easier.
There was a guy I had talked to about it that has arthritis in his hands. At times it's worse that others as anyone with arthritis knows. He was able to make claptons with the Daedalus. He even taught his wife to use it because she would sometimes have to wrap and install coils for him.
