Depends on where you are in the US. A pack of Marlboro(20 in a pack) here in North Carolina costs $5.00 to $6.00. The same pack up in New York costs $11.00 to $13.00. Taxes are much higher in NY. North Carolina is also a major tobacco growing state. I believe Virginia is about the same as North Carolina, as Marlboro is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.
same here in Georgia but with tax comes to about $7 a pack

I don't know what the tax on a pack is but a pack of cigarettes is around $10 per pack in Kalifornia. Years ago Kalifornia put an outrageous tax on cigarettes to get people to quit. They took the taxes and used it to fund certain programs. Well their plan worked and people quit. The state started to complain that the funding wasn't there anymore for these programs. They raised cigarette taxes even more and it just cause more people to quit and losing more revenue. The brilliant idiots that run the USSK have no clue what they're doing. They keep raising taxes on everything and the people and businesses that pay those taxes are leaving. The elected leadership that sounds like a Turbo Tax commercial can't understand why and can't figure out how to stop the bleeding.

If you go out, get groceries or whatever, just say "Thank you" to whatever retail worker you come across.

Having worked management on down I have an idea what these folks are going through. I've always considered my teams essential. You know it when one is gone. I can tell you very few feel appreciated.

Just say Thank You.

Agree. Everyone should have to work with the public at least once.

Could not agree more Jay
I spent 10 years as a 21C of chilled & frozen dept at a large supermarket, before moving towns and going back to farm work. Everybody who is working in the front lines deserves at the very least - a thank you

Amen! Having done both....I think everyone should be required to work 6 months in retail (absolutely during Black Friday and Christmas), and six months in a restaurant. People would have a better attitude if they spent time on the receiving end of the attitude/sass/entitlement they dish out.
My locally owned neighborhood grocery closed Sunday and gave his employees a day off with full pay. He gets my business without a doubt.

Is that the Van Gough that went missing hanging on your wall?
Ha ha....no it's an oil painting of Durham castle the ancient family seat of my wife's family in the dim and distant past. It's a terrible painting though and has suffered over the years from numerous owners who smoked. I must get it cleaned sometime :D

Totally agree....if you think about it the supermarket frontline workers are doing the most high risk job of anyone in this situation.

They deserve our support and gratitude for sure....

    Good morning shinies

My BB panels are here sitting in customs but everything postal is moving super slowly at the moment and home deliveries are down to only three days a week.... Wednesday, Thursday and Friday's. My masks from Sourcemore are in Luxembourg and my fasttech order is seemingly static in Hong Kong. At least my loose leaf tea is on the move :D

Yeah lean times ahead here. Both the wife and my businesses has ground to a halt, so no income there. We'll be living off the governments grant until this plague is under control. No worries there as we have lots of past experience in limiting spending to the absolute minimum.
My heart goes out to soooo many households that aren't fortunate though....and things are about to get much worse :(
