Yeah lean times ahead here. Both the wife and my businesses has ground to a halt, so no income there. We'll be living off the governments grant until this plague is under control. No worries there as we have lots of past experience in limiting spending to the absolute minimum.
My heart goes out to soooo many households that aren't fortunate though....and things are about to get much worse :(
No doubt Fred.
I've noticed the police commissioner is now front and center at the daily press conference that our NSW premier (governor) gives. Also popping up on radio telling us the police have everything "under control".
Not a good sign

Here in the states, I’m seeing everyone talking about what they’re going to do when the ‘stay at home’ ends. Scary. Most of us will be allowed out in a week or two, and there will be plenty of virus left to go around. Wave 2 will likely be as bad, maybe worse, than the first. Me, I’ll maintain my distance and stay home.

Shiny stuff - my Axial rda has already shipped. I also ordered some of this:
Datt White Stuff - Class A Cotton
Anyone tried it?

This is the wick I usually use in my rdas, works a treat and more often than not I'll need a dry burn before I need a fresh wick.

Also did you notice they suspended sales of ammo and gun licenses (which for our American friends are not easy to get at the best of times) today...and of course we dont have a lot of guns in the general population, but of course the ones that do exist are in the hands of the nutty "sporting shooters" types....

Basically in Sydney we're in pretty much total lockdown now

I did see that on the news.

What concerns me is that once freedoms are taken away by the authorities it's never easy to wrest them back.
I understand the need for 90% of this but I wonder how our society's going to look in 12 months time.

I wonder about that myself. Theory is that it won't be as bad because a lot of people have been exposed and have antibodies, so we are less likely to run into someone infected. There should be a much slower rate of new infections. But for someone with risk factors like me being old with dodgy lungs that's not much consolation. It won't really be safe to go out until the vaccine hits the shelves or they develop some medications to treat it. I guess the bright side is that with any luck the hospitals will be functioning normally by then, and equipment and tests will finally be available.

My daughter the nurse just got transferred to a new location, a general intake ward. Still getting one mask per shift and no gowns, and it's 12 hour shifts. They got a patient in end of last week, a woman from a local jail with a nasty cough. Fortunately by the next day her cough had cleared up and she seems to be OK. They don't know of course since they still don't have access to testing.

Yeah. Some States are closing gun stores, some are shutting down abortions, some are clamping down on vaping. I heard NY is even thinking of stopping the sale of cigarettes. A good crisis is a fine opportunity to push your pet project.

The biggest worry i reckon is those people who are getting onto government benefits for the first time and getting the unprecedented double rate - golden time to get on - someone who was getting $400 p/fortnight working a day or two part time per week last week will get over $1,200 next week - and what will happen when that dries up in 6 months (or earlier if the curve flattens quicker). How will they fare when it dries up, and they go back to work. I doubt they'll realise that theyve had it better than any people on benefits ever in history...they'll be straight back to looking down on those of us on it permanently through no fault of our own again....

They'll have had the best run in history on it, and will never appreciate the reality for others...

Course the Liberal Party took means testing off so even their rich voter base can claim it too....you could have a $1 million house and claim it, total scam

I instantly distrust, and yes, hate, anyone pushing an agenda

Only zealots push agendas

Morning all! Only shiny of the day was putting new DTs on the dotaios. I am expecting a delivery of a 1/3c measuring scoop. Not that exciting, but mine has seemingly disappeared. Himself claims innocence, but there’s just the two of us here sooooooo

goodbye
To anyone that has a Serpent Elevate. I have always wondered if I can use it at a higher wattage with no problem. It's built to 33 ohm's. I use Steam Engine and it tells me 35 watts for the ohm's and wattage. It still feels too cool for me. Will it hurt to use 40 or 45 watts so I can get a warmer vape? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
